Redstreak 6,653
Gaga is an amazing song writer. The lyrics of Speechless are absolutely genius. She tells a story, but not so directly. Her words paint a beautiful picture. The lyrics of Speechless tell us of the dysfunctional relationship with the subject. It's great. And then we have Teeth. That song is the longest and best metaphor I've ever heard. Especially when we relate it to the feat of truth. Wow. I'm over fans bringing up lyrics from boys Boys Boys and Dontella and ignoring other masterpeice. "Fans" only bringing up her worst lyrics. Smh. No one is denying she has great lyrics. Just that sometimes she has misfires. Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Her writing style her is like the writing style of many artists in the 50s/60s/70s where they would write random phrases (but still in the theme of the song) to make the song funny and enhance their fun factor. The Swine part fits the theme of the song, and its simply what she is probably is thinking of the person that did harm to her. I already explained the Dope lyrics in a post above. And the applause lyrics are obviously about how everyone is ready to criticize whether what she is doing is right or wrong while lamenting that fact that fame is bringing her these criticisms. The koons part is meant to be a metaphor for the artist becoming the art.

Quark 7,098
She could have made the lyrics much better while also being simple. But she probably chose to be real and show us exactly what and how she she talks, thinks, and expresses herself. Rather then polishing the lyrics in order for the lyrics to sound more conventionally beautiful.
Teri Hatcher 2,053
Are you kidding? The song is lyrically ****ing amazing. She plays the role of one woman who even seems to have bipolar by the way she was thinking. The song is explains the s-xual thoughts of a bis-xual woman. Its great. Im talking about the lyrics of the chorus. The verses are great By the time you reach the end of this sentence, it'll be too late to realize I just wasted your time with a pointless sig. Once again, you guys post lyrics but don't explain why you think they are bad. In this case she is just being straightforward. She is literary telling you what she thinks/dreams. G.U.Y. is provides a beautiful outlook on feminism. Lana Del Rey type feminism. Extracting one line doesnt do justice to the song. Jewels n Drugs has bad lyrics but the Gaga verses are a great explanation of "music not the being". The song isn't her greatest lyrically but the the way the song ties in with ARTPOP, the song and message, is cute. What's wrong with those swine lyrics? Or Swine as a whole? I can't even spot a flaw to begin with in those Applause lyrics. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
Supersonic 49,376
Lmao @ all you guys dragging ARTPOP for "simple", "stupid", "bad" or "repetitive" lyrics, when your all hailed holy grail Bad Romance has Gaga stuttering non-sense for at least 2 minutes of the songs length. Tropico 4,145
No one is denying she has great lyrics. Just that sometimes she has misfires. But like I said, to extract one line from a whole song, doesn't do it justice. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
Quark 7,098
And? I know all of that. That doesn't make those particular lyrics any less clunky, awkward, or cringey.Well you probably don't like unconventional writing styles. But there are many styles of songwriting that are not always your usually "telling a story" type of songwriting.
gagzus 15,901
Have u listened to ARTPOP? Its full of crappy lyrics her best song writing aka Aura & ARTPOP says hi, MANiCURE too also, she's a amazing songwriter who do you guys define as a good songwriter? If u say Sia you deserve a slap bc she writes lyrics pretty much the same & sometimes more basic. Gaga is one of the best songwriters rn since they're very scarce in pop music

I pulled out that one particular lyric because that one particular lyric is a terrible metaphor"Jewels N Drugs has bad lyrics" You explained it yourselfThey're awkward, especially comparing him to a shrew? Nothing wrong with the song as a whole, just that awkward lyric. They're terrible and clunky. Fame having an I.V.? Banging gongs and crashing critics? Suddenly the Koons is me? They're a half-assed attempt at trying to sound "deep~" Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Jesse Pinkman 4,660
I think thaf Gaga writes incredible choruses, and she spends so much time on them that the verses sometimes become lackluster if that makes sense. It's science, bitch
