User 352
every songwriter has their fair- share of bad lyrics from madonna to gaga form katy to nicki overall gaga is a good songwriter i dont know why some of you are calling eveyrone a fake fan just becaus they dislike some lyrics it's just embarrassing Nicki needs so many song writers. Katy needs song writers. They not even real song writers. Gaga needs her producers (; That's the difference. And Boys Boys Boys is a inversion of Girls Girls Girls from Mötley Crüe. Musically it is pure pop, but the vibe is definitly: After Killers concert and night full of bar trips >"eating cold pizza in the morning, oh damn, let's buy eggs & cigarettes [;)] But you compare Gaga with Katy and Nicki ^^ Ummmm, okay. See the things how you want them to see (;
Paper Planes 340
Yeah, I heard it on the radio all the time. Habits I think was a hit with emo teens who listened to it on Spotify. You'd be incorrect then delete it fat

Mister Gaga 22,919
Most of her lyrics are great for me, specially on BTW. User 352
where di i compare agga to nicki and katy? how did you come to that conclusion? maybe read more carefully next time Okay babe ^^ You've mentioned them, they adorn themselves with so many feathers from other persons. You have formulated that this happens to every songwriter: like Gaga, Katy, Nicki - but I just wanted to mention that they ( Katy & Nicki ) are very clever to hide behind real lyricsts. It was not a real compare, but a generalization. Peace, okay ?
Judas Oyster 1,915
Love her writing skills, how she thinks outside the box and is herself.
Versace 7,971
TFM/BTW are lyrically her best and TF/ARTPOP have rather silly fun lyrics.
Celina 118
Of course half of this thread is people arguing that she's at best mediocre while pointing out 2 songs that are actually able to back up that claim (not counting the ones that were clearly meant to be humorous yet are taken out of context)... and of course the majority of her lyrics, which are at the very least clever, are being left out of those posts... Not that I expected any different.
djBuffoon 12,120
No, but they make a fair point in this case. I understand more as a fan, but as a regular listener, I'd be confused as ****See, I don't think confusing is a negative. Just because one doesn't like the approach doesn't make it a flaw. She didn't spoon-feed us this time, like I believe she has in some of her earlier works. I appreciate that she gave us lyrics that were deliberately confusing, that weren't so on-the-nose. Esotericism is a bad thing for a generic pop star, but Gaga is more than that.
JazzGa 14,621
Also, I think she said this in an interview talking about her time with Marina Abramovic that sometimes she chooses words just because they sound harmonious with the other lyrics, and not necessarily because they're related or make sense. Songwriting is an auditory art as well as a poetic art :D But there's no excuse for "im shiny and i know it" though And as far as her camp lyrics like "rich as piss" and "in the morning buy me eggs," you either hate it or you love it, it's all in the eye of the beholder My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <

Esotericism is a bad thing for a generic pop star, but Gaga is more than that.If Gaga wants to continue as this "music not the bling" artist and be "more than a generic pop star" (which I doubt), fine. She'll retain her loyal fanbase that will be able to decode her every word, and she'll continue to be misunderstood by the rest of the world. However, if she wants to continue to cater to a mainstream audience, I see her lyrical handiwork as a massive flaw. Contemporary hit radio audiences audiences want "spoon-fed" lyrics; lyrics they can caption their Instagram selfies with; lyrics that can extract a meaning from quickly and sing to themselves repeatedly. delete it fat
