Tbh FROOT's sales are A M A Z I N G for Marina's popularity and for the 0 promo the album got..Just think that girls like Charli or Jessie J. debuted with a lot lower sales and both had hit singles :sharon:

Sucker has 3 great songs and the rest is bland and genric. No wonder why she's not selling despite massive promo. She has potential but she is wasting it, or maybe she just isn't as good as I think she could be.

She needs to regain respect, the only way she'll do that is with critical appreciation. With someone like her dropping an album thats getting good reviews, commercial success will be inevitable.

That's exactly what I'm saying.... all she needs to do is focus on making a good quality album with amazing music.

If she focuses on trying to make hot, trendy pop music... she will most likely flop and be unsuccessful (look at Madonna's new album) because it's not coming from the right perspective.... ie- creative brilliance.

COMPLETELY DISAGREE.

There's only 3 songs on the album that I think are mediocre crap... (Solitaire, Gold & Weeds)

The rest are AMAZING.

Better Than That, Blue, Savages & I'm A Ruin are incredible songs.

This is an incredible album. I think it's going to be the best pop album of 2015.

I was talking about Sucker not Froot. :emma:

I think you are talking about The Fame Monster here! 78% Metacritic score + 8.1 million WW sales!

The Fame Monster (EP/standalone version) sold that much or is that combined sales with The Fame? I never understood how The Fame Monster worked since it was released as a standalone and a rerelease. I own the standalone album.

People base an albums worth on sales...not so much a review here and there because opinions are just that...opinions and may not reflect how you view or hear the music.

 LG5 needs to sell more than just get a few good reviews

In a perfect world, I would love both to happen (a la Fame Monster 2.0 success and acclaim).

That being said, I've come to realize that I find critical acclaim to be more appealing than high sales. There have been so many artists that get RIDICULOUS commercial success, but truth be told are very mediocre in regards to sound, lyrics, production, etc. I can appreciate an album way more if there is substance and relatability behind its work.

A perfect example atm is Marina's FROOT. Amazing lyrics, sounds, production, etc. Has been regarded as her most highly acclaimed work and can't get enough of it!! Though it does suck that it didn't do overwhelmingly well commercially (in comparison to bigger artists), I can't help but care less about that when I listen in awe to such an amazing work of art.

Yupp, those were my two cents on the matter :Jase::tea::zilla:

At this point in time, commercial success is way more important.

no, quality is more important and will always be. as a matter of fact, after all the vocal performances gga has been praised for as of late i'd say people are ready for her music to evolve and reach the quality that it could be, so now of all times she should be striving for quality.

I completely disagree.

I think it's time for her to create a higher level of masterpiece... Something that can be appreciated for decades... at least as good as Adele's 21

She needs to go for the highest level of songwriting possible. cut the cheese and go for really good lyrics and really good music.

If that happens, the album will most likely be successful.

But if she steers for commercial success, it's likely that the album will be crap and end up flopping.

scoff, gaga is much more capable of writing something better than 21, and without the team of writers. but yes i agree, she needs to really aim high with her songwriting, theres so much more she can do.

8.1M The Fame Monster sales are not combined with The Fame (the 16.4M sales are). The Fame and The Fame Monster sales are always combined by IFPI, Billboard, you name it. all music industry sources. When i say 8.1M for The Fame Monster, I mean both the EP which includes 8 songs and the deluxe edition which includes the EP and all songs from The Fame album. But if you count The Fame LP and The Fame Monster (EP/standard and the deluxe) together, you'll get 16.4M WW sales (4.5M in the US).
