Fiona Apple 13,006
Alright. See I knew it did well commercially but didn't check the scores. So she's had 3 albums that were very well received commercially and critically (BTW, TF, FM) and then two that did well commercially and okay in critical reception (AP, and C2C). Is that correct? Not to mention the awards.Seriously, people consider her a flop?Well yeah you are right. But I wouldn't put C2C in the same category with ARTPOP because POP critics trashed it cause of ARTPOP. Every jazz critic said that it's awesome so it was actually well-received and REALLY REALLY successful for a jazz album.

I can't help but feel a bit sorry for ARTPOP though, I think it would have fared much, much better if the era hadn't been so messy. But what can you do at this point?Still she is doing really well, and unlike what a certain someone believes, she has been busting her ass for quite awhile to earn her success. She's in such a great place right now I am totally prepared to be slayed for the next album in both catagories! Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax." XoXoJoanneGaga 629
Both But if I had to choose I would go with acclaim, it's important for her at this stage.

But now it's too late.I will always think of it as an underrated diamond! I have a very good feeling about the next album! I feel like it will be really successful (both critically and commercially).Anyway goodnight. It's like 2:35 am here

Woolfsmck 2,763
At this point in time, commercial success is way more important. Money makes the world go round....she gets critically blasted no matter what anyway... like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true
blacklistedd 599
Not always, if you drop a brilliant record, it can still go unnoticed. Commercial success should be the main objective at this point in time. Gaga will never drop a record that will go unnoticed, not "at this point in time". She needs to regain respect, the only way she'll do that is with critical appreciation. With someone like her dropping an album thats getting good reviews, commercial success will be inevitable. Bad Bromance 5,809
Critical acclaim isn't going to feed Asia. This!!! I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.
Mister Gaga 22,930
What is critical acclaim for a us, for me?? ARTPOP didn´t have any acclaim and it's my favourite album from Gaga. Beyonce, the album, has a great metacritic score and for me is boring. I mean, i would prefer commercial success. The acclaim is subjective.
giskardsb 12,565
Only in Pop music do fans care as much or more about commercial success as their own feelings about the music. It's bizarre.
freebit 6,240
Both measures of "success" are annoying in their own ways as they are often blown out of proportion by stans and the media.Yet, of the two I'd rather have critical acclaim. Having a more positive impact on a creative level is far more preferable than than churning out something mediocre, albeit successful.
Cody Draco 2,531
I don't care about either, but I'll pick commercial success so more people can appreciate her art.
Supersonic 49,376
Neither. I just want her to actually like the music she puts out.
wahkeenasitka 1,995
At this point in time, commercial success is way more important. I completely disagree. I think it's time for her to create a higher level of masterpiece... Something that can be appreciated for decades... at least as good as Adele's 21. She needs to go for the highest level of songwriting possible. cut the cheese and go for really good lyrics and really good music. If that happens, the album will most likely be successful. But if she steers for commercial success, it's likely that the album will be crap and end up flopping.
