Yet look where that has got her in the end. Taylor's first week of her latest album outsold the US total of Madonna's last two albums combined. Since Ray of Light she has only been living off her own legacy and what she accomplished in the past

You mean after COAD not Ray Of Light.. Yea that is true..But she had a HUGE 20-25 years career. Will Taylor get that? I don't think so.

She's already had 10 huge years so... We'll have to wait and see.

Hard Candy wasn't half bad & the era itself was a big success.

I'd say its really after MDNA that Madonna started going downhill musically.

I do like Hard Candy musically. But it was NOT a big success.Yeah the tour was AMAZINGLY successful. But the album itself eh.. It had a big hit cause of Justin Timberlake but the other songs flopped BIG TIME in the US... MDNA is the worst thing she has released so far..

It was the 9th best selling album of 2008.

Give it 2 me was a hit everywhere but the US, but its still a hit.

Lol she actually became successful in 2009 with the VMA's.People didn't care about her before that.. So she actually has 6 successful years so far. I love her music tho

not really, it was the 25th. http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums-2013.htm

ARTPOP's era commercially wasn't a failure, it failed in other departments.

Oh, I'm pretty sure people knew about her since Fearless, released before the Kanye West incident, brought "Love Story" (8M copies WW), Grammy for ALBUM OF THE YEAR, Best Country Album and sold almost 600k on its first week.

Well, that's not 10 years but 7 yet you get the idea.

She had her first top 20 song in 2007 though and her 2006 debut sold 5,000,000 in the US alone? She had been famous in the US long before, I'd pretty much say as soon as 'Teardrops on my Guitar' dropped

Well I said 6.You said 7.It's not a big difference xD.. I think that she will have some longevity (we already see that, her album sales are always amazing) but not huge longevity like Madonna. I actually think that 1989 will always be her absolute peak.

:legend: love this :legend:

But the real problem is that Madonna did it, not Gaga. If Gaga had made it on her tour (mixing ey and btw) it would have been funny and a statement. This was funny too, because it was Gaga making fun of herself and the whole situation:

We all know Madonna thinks Gaga is talented, but she knew what she was doing, and I think she made a mistake... because even if it was "kidding" she knows how the world and the media works. She could have say "She is better than me" and then "it felt reductive" and media would have ignored the first, so I think it went a bit out of control and she really damaged Gaga's image for that time (maybe it wasn't her intention and she was just playing arround, but she accidentally did and I can see why lots of people feel like that with her here.). And I can see why Gaga feels the way she does with Madonna.

Everything she said in favour of gaga was succedded with some shade (lady who, the tour performance WITH THE SCREENS, which are the importante part, followed by she's not me, reductive, those moments when she tried to look like it was hard for her to say something good about Gaga, watch Ellen... etc).

You know, Gaga is human too and she has her own point of view. Why didn't Madonna take Gaga on stage to make an statement before saying all this ****?

But oh well, looks like she is trying to fix things this time arround, because she hasn't talked about Gaga during interviews. I'd really like if she made a real statement and stop playing with ambiguity.

"No, i don't think she's copying me, cause she's she and i'm me" - in the same interview.

"I actually like her, i think she's very talented" - Graham.

About the mash up, it was meant to be comedic, not an attack. Maybe if Gaga was an actual Madonna fan like she always stated she would have picked up on her unique sense of humor, Madonna was always like this.

Back in the 80s when she was accused of copying MJ, she did the exact same thing. its a commentary on the media presented in a humoristic manner, its irony, its artistic expression.

But of course, according to Gaga daily logic, a woman who devoted a big porrtion of her life as an equal rights activist before it was hip and popular to do so, a woman who helps building education in economically weak countries is evil because she didn't sugar coat her opinion on a specific situation that happened to involve your precious mommy fave.

u seem to have a pretty negative opinion towards gaga so what's the point of being on a gaga forum?
