What if... Madonna had been nice back then?

Imagine if Madonna, when she was asked about Born This Way on an interview, had replied with something like "it's okay, I did it with Hung Up, and it's been done for ages. I appreciate it." instead of the unfamous "reductive".

Would we have our collaboration already? Would MDNA had not flopped? Would Rebel Heart had not leaked? Would ARTPOP had not recieved so much trashtalk? Would the world be a better place?

Even though this whole mess had a big backlash, I personally think that Gaga built up a whole lot of relevancy thanks to it. Not everybody, every day is recognized as a threat to the original Queen of Pop, you know.

Seeing that Madonna doesn't like Gaga, because she feels threatened, made people think '' Oh, Gaga is actually serious, she's happening, she's here and she'll stay '', you know? Everything has a good side.

Lol, I guess Gaga wouldn't ignore Madonna, you know, if M wouldn't have performed the mash-up on the MDNA tour. I guess that's what hurt Gaga the most.

MY world would definetely be a better place :spin:

And actually MDNA&Rebel Heart would sell EVEN less if Madonna didn't get some attention with the "reductive" thing

There's a saying in Spain, "you catch more flies with honey than sh*t".

This. :trootea: Madonna knows how to promote herself and get her name into the news.

She knew what she was doing, she was (as per usual) trying to use youth culture, since at the time the whole shade thing in stan & troll culture was high.

But who knows, even if she was nice & collabed with Gaga I'd just edit the song to remove her atrocious autotuned vocals

Of course it does, look at Taylor Swift. She's got more attention by being friends with as many people as possible than by insulting someone else's work.

She was compared to madonna & called a threat to her thrown since late TF / early TFM era especially after Bad Romance

Yeah and Madonna has been getting MORE attention for 30 YEARS by shading other artists or doing controversal things

"No, i don't think she's copying me, cause she's she and i'm me" - in the same interview.

"I actually like her, i think she's very talented" - Graham.

About the mash up, it was meant to be comedic, not an attack. Maybe if Gaga was an actual Madonna fan like she always stated she would have picked up on her unique sense of humor, Madonna was always like this.

Back in the 80s when she was accused of copying MJ, she did the exact same thing. its a commentary on the media presented in a humoristic manner, its irony, its artistic expression.

But of course, according to Gaga daily logic, a woman who devoted a big porrtion of her life as an equal rights activist before it was hip and popular to do so, a woman who helps building education in economically weak countries is evil because she didn't sugar coat her opinion on a specific situation that happened to involve your precious mommy fave.
