Melech 9,900
They are just families having more babies, none of you can predict how many of them would be religious or not. Everyone is looking for purpose in life, many find it in religion. I don't get it how is that scary, most people care about themselves, own family, no one is converting anyone by force. The extremist ones have always been in minority. But some traditions are harmful and restricting gay rights, woman rights or human rights in general. When I see that a Muslim family in Berlin abducted their own son because he was gay and wanted to do an arranged marriage, sorry, but I think that this is scary. Again not talking about Islam. Many of those things have to do with old tribal cultures and traditions, which never changed with religion. Yeah certain cases are scary, but growing number of people belonging to any religion, doesn't really mean anything. Society and environment play a role too. Luc 4,776
I'm afraid of the rise. Not because it's Islam. Because it's like Christianity. It wants to convert people and forces rules on people. It also depends on what branches of Islam/Christianity. Some of them are just stupid and idiotic. 5% is muslim and I don't notice a thing. 20% of the people in my city is muslim maybe it will be more well'distributed over villages and cities in the future. Right now it's all in the big cities. I do think that a decline in any religion is better. I think the overall number will increase because China will have many people converting, just like in South Korea. But I expect the secularisation to have a great impact on every country eventually. I actually have a muslim friend who accepts transs-xuality and wouldn't mind if her kid was transgender, and another muslim friend who accepts that people who are transgender or gay are born that way, and that it's not unnatural, but she thinks that you shouldn't change your gender whatsoever. Their parents let me in their house too. So they're slowly become less conservative, too. In the end more secularisation is better. The situation in Africa scares me though. Almost every country where islam and christianity come together, is very instable.. I wonder if atheism will grow in the Middle East too. I know that about 5% is secretly atheist in Saudi Arabia, but for the rest I don't know.

I have nothing against Muslims in my city. I live in a city with a huge population of Christians,Jews and Muslims. My city has tons of radical muslims as well though. People call Bonn the door to Syria. But of course radicals are only a minority. Though, on a world wide view, both Islam and Christianity having a dangerous influence, especially as you said, in Africa or even in Asia.

Yeah, I believe that a more liberal mindset and more democracy goes together with more prosperity.. we should help the poorer countries get richer so they'll get more stablr eventually. Goosey 3,017
Ew, I hope this is wrong. Religion should disappear by that time. IKVS, you get smart. You get to church! aaronyoji 2,064
Religion is not the problem. The nature of opressing the own opinion on others is the problem which leads to conflict. Religion should be kept private. Um no I'm pretty sure religion is the problem. There's no natural "want" to oppress people for having different opinions, that comes from religious cultures that teach people over the span of many many different generations that a certain way of thinking is correct and those who oppose need to be eradicated. Religion is the source of almost every societal holdback and form of progression
ShockPop 7,747
Mixing and belief systems are all well and good, but it's undeniable that religion is the single greatest cause of suffering in the world. Far more long-term pain has been caused by religion than by any natural disaster, far more people have been killed in the name of religion than in the name of anything else. It's time people stopped covering up the disgusting nature of religious expression by saying it's "a religion of peace" whether we're talking catholicism or Muslims, they are groups of people manipulated by a blatant lie and kept in line with threats, violence, rape and mutilation. Why? Well let's put it this way, the places of 'worship' aren't exactly understated, are they? Money makes the world go 'round, and if you're a religious leader, the money of all the poor scared unintelligent sheeple lines your pockets forever more.I am under no illusion, and I know many christians, muslims, jews... whatever... that are perfectly nice people - but you only have to scratch the surface for their prejudice to spew out like sulphuric acid burning through the very fabric of society and peace in order to destroy acceptance and reality in order to fit their ideals at any cost.Religious freedom means persecution for anybody that doesn't fit their mould. It means honour killings, it means being stoned to death. Follow a religious text and you're following violence and going against the flow, against intelligent progression in society. The sooner the world realises that all organized religious institutions are nothing more than softcore terror groups the better. What's the difference between the church (any church) and a school yard bully? The schoolyard bully cannot change the rules of the school. The church happily charges ahead with their agenda of regression, oppression and control of society to line their pockets. If you support an organised religious group and also believe in peace, freedom, social acceptance and intelligent, logical decision making, then you're fishing a battle against yourself and need to wake up.Rant rant rant. gagzus 25,353
All we need is those in our generation whom are religious to make equality & respect the basis of religious teachings & the negative opinion towards religious groups would decrease significantly I think. Also media needs to stop highlighting none white crime & calling it a terrorist act when it normally isn't. we just ALL need to respect people's views, I have no problem with ANYONE whom is religious unless they start trying to tell me how to live my life by their books
faux 2,190
Well I think that religion will disappear over a long period of time as the human race will evolve into an even greater civilisation with advanced technology and no language barrier.
Dolev 867
Islam will be the word's largest religion by 2070, researchers have claimed. Christianity - still the most popular global religion - is expected to first lose its top ranking in France, Australia and United Kingdom before the shift takes a more dramatic turn. The research, carried out by the Pew Research Centre, based in Washington DC, came to the conclusion because of the higher fertility rate of Islam's followers. David Voas, professor of population studies at England's Institute for Social and Economic Research, said: "The very rapid growth of population, combined with limited opportunities even for the educated young people, but particularly for less educated ones, has created social and therefore political tensions and that has fueled things like immigration to Western countries, political upheaval." It is predicted that both Christianity and Islam will have an equal amount of followers by 2050, before Islam overtakes the religion over the next 20 years. By 2050, the report also outlines that the population of Earth - counted as 6.9 billion in 2010 - will have grown to 9.3 billion. Conrad Hackett, who penned the report based on Pew's research, said: "We can be quite confident that Muslims are going to grow rapidly in the decades ahead." http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/islam-predicted-overtake-christianity-worlds-5450794
