All these rich people coming together to ask for more money.

BYE

OMG. READ!!!!

Re-post:

Instead of making Spotify's owners and shareholders richer and richer, more money will now go to the labels, artists, writers and producers. Spotify has a laughable way of splitting up their profit, most of it goes back to them. It is not a case of millionaires trying to make more money, it's just some of the biggest names is music coming together in order to get a shift in streaming devices. They are using the big names, because small artists fanbases are not going to make this device happen. Yet, new and indie artists will benefit immensely from Tidal, since they'll get more money our of their streams. The people in that teaser are worth billions together, do you really think they need it? They are doing it for the coins, of course, to a certain extend but also to make sure the industry can breath a little bit more. Have you seen the state of the industry right now? No one makes money off of records anymore, streams are laughable in what they bring the companies instead of artists.

It's also beneficial for upcoming or smaller artists, since they will see a huge increase in profit from streams. If Taylor Swift, who's huge right now, only sees $500.000 of all of the millions she made in streams, imagine how much a small artist gets. Now, thanks to TIDAL, more profit will go to the artists and rightful owners.

This http://gagadaily.com/uploads/default_air.jpg Especially the free users of Spotify/torrent downloaders; Tidal was clearly never aiming to attract you in the first place

Exactly! They've found a target market and they're providing a service that that market will probably be very grateful for :dies:

If people are gonna criticise Tidal for seeming pretentious and expensive then I wonder if they'll also criticise the people who choose to purchase CDs/vinyls for better audio quality too?

So to sum it up they want more money then the millions and millions of dollars they already have. They should be grateful they have as much money as they have. While the rest of the 98% of world is barely able to pay their bills and put food on their tables. The idea. The product seems interesting and cool. But it's all just a sham for them to get more money they think they deserve

All those millionaires being together to ask for more money... And they ask people like us, who don't even get in a month what they earn in a day thanks to streaming.

I hope that sh*t is going to flop and all those cupid people are going to lose huge money in it.

Don't have any ill will towards this service, but I think this will flop massively just based on what I'm seeing. There's nothing compelling enough to even make me want to install it, let alone pay a monthly fee to use it. The vast majority of consumers will be hard pressed to tell the difference in quality (not to mention the fact that a huge number of consumers lack the internet speed to tolerably stream lossless, this is particularly a concern for the American market) and the exclusive content seems quite lackluster.

I'm thinking they must have some big things up their sleeves to have gotten this many artists to invest in the company or perhaps all the artists were simply offered great deals so that Tidal would have the starpower behind it.

You get standard HQ sound quality, 320kbps, unlimited high definition music videos, expertly curated editorial content and extra's (see OP) and you can try out the HiFi (FLAC, Lossless) service.

Tidal is the new Illuminati.

They're slowly seperating and soon will run their own cult label and rule the world :ohno:

I guess that's the easy and "cool" way to look at it. Think about the new and indie artists who are amongst those 98%. Huge artists supporting Tidal still get money that would change our life from services like Spotify, but what about the artists that are played just a fraction of how many times someone like Rihanna is played? Peanuts. And who is going to sign up to a service backed by artists they've never heard of?

The matter of small artists aside, I think it's great that artists are standing up for the way they want THEIR music to be heard. Their albums don't belong to you, or me. If they want to broadcast their work a certain type of way, good on them.

I feel like if I was only making a small percentage of what I could be earning, I'd take steps to change that too. Even if I was rich. Wouldn't anyone?

Why are people getting so heated and up in arms about this?

Tidal is more for audiophiles than your casual listener - if you're not an audiophile then stick to Spotify or iTunes or however you get your music normally

Spotify already offered HQ sound for the same price.

Most people (including audiophiles) won't notice any difference between a 320 Kbps MP3 file and a lossless file.

The 9.99$ option offers 96kps quality. :rip:

WTF are they thinking?
