darkwolf 590
If you can't name anybody then this entire conversation is redundant. Why would Madonna want to perform with some has been folk singer (for example) when that's not the genre she's going for with her albums nor is it the direction she wants to go in. Madonna is a pop artist and is out to make money. She doesn't pretend to be anything else. If she's releasing a dance album then it makes no sense to duet with a gospel singer or a folk singer. Madonna has worked with Prince. Madonna has worked with Michael Jackson (even though the duet fell through). They are the greats of her time and are her only true peers. Tony Bennett first duetted with Lady Gaga 3 years into her career (2011). She was at the top of her game and is in a genre totally differnet to his that is popular with youths. I suppose we can assume that Tony was also working with Gaga to stay relevant? Just because Gaga's been singing jazz since she was 13 doesn't mean that it's more of a legitimate duet. Most of Madonna's influences are dead, retired or rarely perform. He's also duetted with legends like Sheryl Crow and Aretha Franklin. This whole "Madonna works with young stars for attention!!" is so irrelevant. Everybody does it. And Juanes in 2004

Ladey Gagz 2,512
Just because she's pop doesn't mean she can only go to pop artists. We've seen collabs between pop and rap, pop and rock, pop and country, even pop and jazz (hello, C2C?) They don't have to be legendary acts either. Part of the beauty of being an artist is stepping outwith your comfort zone and experiencing new things and new people. The only genre-hopping Madonna will do for a collab is hip hop, to be down with da kidz. She could benefit from exploring what music as a whole has to offer. You can't give C2C as an example because Gaga went Jazz for that collab to work Madonna wants to make pop music, and thats fine, she doesn't HAVE to step out her comfort zone
Yanko 9,860
When you lack some talent and need more sales, it's a good decision to invite some popular people to save her a*s. Justice is real. She's fading out guys. you do know that shell outgross almost every current pop girl with her tour right?

Yanko 9,860
Yes, it is a comedy skit collaboration. One that was written, directed and produced by the writers, directors and producers at SNL. A comedy skit on SNL is not a collaboration. It was done for laughs, nothing more. make up your mind

bionic 48,816
The only question that needs to be asked is this: Why didn't Beyonce wait for Lady Gaga to prove her legacy before collaborating with her twice? Psychedelic 1,098
Everyday there are being created more threads about Madonna than Gaga. When you are a part of Gaga's fanbase, you must have an opinion about Madonna. I have. If she's having such an impact at her "rival's" most important fansite, she is far from fading out. StrawberryBlond 14,719
I'm so done with this topic. A lot of Madonna fans who shout "ageism!" happily insult anyone else who they deem too old. A lot of Madonna fans who are cool with her collabing with newbies for success happily insult anyone else for using the same tactic. At the end of the day, they just don't get it when you try to provide a different viewpoint. So I'm just going to stop trying.
