Why didn't Beyoncé's 4 receive the criticism that ARTPOP did?

I'm sorry but '4' was more successful than ARTPOP.

1,95M copies VS 3M+

​even if we believe in the myth that ap sold 2.5 3m is still more than 2.5 shipments

​You guys act like Beyonce never gets any criticism yet Navy, Britney's stans and a whole bunch of other pressed fanbases are forever criticizing her and call he overrated which doesn't make sense because if she's getting all this hate, then how is she overrated and perfect?  And Beyonce herself acknowledges her flaws. The only time Beyonce was universally loved was during I Am... Sasha Fierce era. And all of your faves have had a time when everybody was loving them. So this "no one is allowed to criticize her" thing is so false. :excuseme:

​No. It received criticism because everyone hates on Gaga for her own confidence ("SHE'S SO PRETENTIOUS HOW DARE SHE USE ART IN A TITLE FOR AN ALBUM!!!!") and because when ever she slips up commercially or critically they'll turn their back on her but love her when she's selling well and getting praise.And not to mention, there's certain fans like you who base the quality of something on how much it sold (for example: this comment and your others in this thread).

​Almost 2 years difference between their release. It means at least 15% less copies sold, because of piracy.

People came for Beyoncé when 4 didn't do as well as expected. I think most people forget that Beyoncé wasn't as hyped up before her super bowl etc as she is now. It took months and months of teasers and rebuilding of her brand to be this big.

It did receive a lot of criticism. Some articles were saying her career was over.

Because Beyonce was always only 'very successful' before 4. Gaga was a 'phenomenon'  before ARTPOP, thus the downhill was more notorious.
