Will Gaga's next album sell more than ARTPOP?

Things could change though. Pulling music off Spotify could become standard practice for bigger artists, or soemthing.

I don't really see that happening. Unless spotify etc starts to pay artists more, artists aren't gonna make any money, and won't make music anymore and everything will go to ****, and consumers don't realize it. Only a handful of artists make money nowadays and if the tides don't turn soon it's gonna get worse. Music is valuable and shouldn't be given away from free, not because musicians should be rich and live in big houses, but because all the hard work that's behind making the music, from all the sesison players, engineers, producers, rentng studios etc. I still buy records

Me too, music is too accessible imo. Artists don't need a lot, but if they want to be able to pay producers, support a family, and tour the world, they should get paid more.

Hardly possible. If ARTPOP was her masterpiece so many fans claim it to be, it's almost impossible for her to top when she's working with generic producer RedOne. No?

Sister

I do believe so, I think it will be over all a more successful time for her than with ARTPOP.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Battle 4 Ur Life

Probably YES, cause it will surely be AWESOME and the label will put in more money to promote it.

How much more? Depends on how well they promote it.

Lady Palutena

We should cross that bridge when we come to it.

If it does, great. Another #1 album for Gaga. Maybe a lot of videos. Good promo.

If it doesn't, fans will complain about charting/sales and hopefully go make or join a forum dedicated to a more commercial musician.

Adoremus in caelum, Palutena. Dea luminis.

With pure album sales down for almost everyone, it'd be extremely difficult for her to pull more than 700,000 units in the US within a year (WW numbers are different since there's no Nielsen Music equivalent in a global scale to track over-the-counter sales, and not estimations). Contrary to the notion that it's imperative to have a successful lead single in order to pull massive album sales in a long run, the success of an album actually depends more on the success of the post-album singles. If they succeed, the interest over the album would keep on even months (or year) after its release. If they fail, the interest would just die down and so will its sales. A successful lead single could only help the album gain good-to-great first weeks sales. But after that, what's next?

you don't get it. It's a business. It's not about lady gaga's love for the music and not the money, she is signed a a record label that invests A LOT of money into her, a lot of time, a LOT of people, and they have to make money. If they don't there's not gonna be any music, no videos, no live shows, no nothing.

All I know is that people (read: haters) are going to be watching her numbers like a f*cking hawk, so even if they're down for everybody and sells less than ARTPOP but extremely well compared to others, people are going to label it a flop.

So I guess I'm hoping she does better than ARTPOP and I'm extremely confident that if she plays her cards right, she will

who will love me when the night is over

If she does a more rock sound, she won't. I know that's what a lot of you are expecting, but let's be real. I wouldn't mind a rock album, but we're not talking about what we would like, we're talking about what will sell.

The next album will depend A LOT on the pre-album singles and not only will it need to draw from what the underground is doing right now (It's gone very urban in the past two years), but she'll need to anticipate what will go mainstream and what won't.

But that's if she wants the album to smash. She may very well not care about the commercial performance of the next album.

As much as it seemed likely that she was gearing away from dance-pop for a while, let's remember that she's working with RedOne, not to mention the godfather of dance music - Giorgio Moroder.
