I don't imagine her selling over 2 million albums in the US again. It's really difficult to sell albums unless you pull your music from streaming (Taylor). I imagine her selling about the same or maybe over a million with some successful singles.

She has a new team which has done a great work with CtC so I'm not worried about a pop abum with brand new (real) videos, singles on the radio and performances at big shows !

I just hope next album will be made to fit to the radios ! I miss Gaga on the radio...

She needs to play the game like she used to. Putting out an amazing single is great, but if she strikes a deal with youtube... dope effect!

I dunno the climate has already changed so much since the release of AP which wasn't even that long ago, who knows how long this album could take? It could be drastically worse in a years time.

Put it this way, I get the feeling already that she will be better received than she was with AP, but because of how albums are generally selling right now, I dunno if it will do better.

If the album were released this coming Monday with a giant weekend promo campaign out of nowhere, yes. If she were to release a smash single in May that outdoes Britney and Iggy and releases the album a few weeks after, then yes. If she were to perform at the VMA's and have a legendary performance akin to the Oscars or 2009 Paparazzi and then a week later release an album, then yes. If she gets really good ratings for AHS and has a musical number in it that goes viral, and a week later releases a smash single, then yes. So....my point being.....it all comes down to timing. She has to have some sort of viral event that makes her look good on the tabloids and then within two weeks follow it up with an album. That's why "Born This Way" did so well. It came off of the hype of "The Fame Monster" which was highly regarded. That's why "ARTPOP" flopped, it came off of the hype of a dwindling album (Born This Way wasn't GP popular), a long break, a cancelled tour, and an opening singles that was defeated by 3 other artists. She is already back on the right pace.....the engagement, the Oscars, Cheek to Cheek, and hopefully some great reception for AHS has already put her inn a place where the album will be a solid hit (500-750k first week sales) but if she wants to get those "1989" levels she honestly needs a viral moment or a great opening song that is undeniably good and refreshing sounding, and then drop the album quickly after.

mark my words......Gaga's team will at least pull a partial Beyonce/Taylor and not have the album on spotify or pandora until the era is over. It would be entirely dumb of her to go back to RedOne with intentions of making a mega pop album (which is obvious, I don't understand why people think she is going to do anything else, RedOne makes dance pop music and he is the executive producer) for the purpose of it to be popular amongst everyone, and then not profit off of it. Gaga might not personally care about the money, but she has always wanted her message to go out. And the only way they can get this album out in droves is by making it seem exclusive to buyers and radio. Why do you think buyers and radio ignored her totally during ARTPOP? Because she released the majority of the album for free before it even came out and make it not even seem like an event or exciting. Interscope is not gonna allow her to pull another iTunes. You can already tell this too simply by the fact that she is not peeping a ****ing word, image, wink or anything about the album. She hasn't even confirmed that she really is working on a new album persay....just her and RedOne saying that they are "working on a whole bunch of music until they like it". They are playing vague and eexclusive this timee around. And if they do that.....she could sell those big million numbers because we won't be able to access it unless we buy it.

Looking at the general pattern of album sales for pop stars like her, it's usually the same or lower. 

I think that she'll be able to outdo AP if she really puts out an undeniably great album that ends up clicking with most people. The album would have to also have good promotion. 

Though, for all we know it might take her another couple of years to truly have her Emancipation moment. All I hope it that the era goes smoothly. I would kind of love if her next album is her Light Years (Kylie's first truly well received album after Impossible Princess and a precursor to Fever).
