Supersonic 49,376 Posted March 25, 2015 Share Posted March 25, 2015 The songs & production on ARTPOP are not the reason why it "underperformed" commercially.Troy setting up the ARTPOP promo schedule in way that would f*ck Gaga over completely (aka DWUW video), and hurting her so badly that she almost was on the edge of SUICIDE and Gaga therefore retreating from mainstream media to get herself back on her feet, is why ARTPOP did not do as well as her previous albums.I'm sick of you blaming the producers and songwriters. ARTPOP is a great album, with impeccable production.EDIT: Since 50% of you are kind of still don't get it: The mere reason why ARTPOP "flopped" is Troy Carter. Not Gaga. Not Madeon. Not Zedd. I love ARTPOP but that doesn't necessarily make it a objectively "good" album, since such a thing does not exist.- We don't know what went on behind the scenes, so any claims about what Troy, Gaga or anyone of her team did is pure speculation. The only part of the story we heard was from Gaga, in a few short interviews where she wasn't even legally allowed to say much.- Promo does not automatically make or break an album.We'll never exactly know what made the ARTPOP era go down the way it went down, but I don't see why this fanbase has that incessant need to do so. Except Gaga saying that she felt betrayed by him, what exactly did he do to betray her? What knock-on effect did that betrayal have?
