Rae 86
He may be a Reagan family member, but he looked more like a Bush family member. Ah, this is just bad. It's not that he is a atheist, but the way he did it is just disgusting. Not normal.
Koreku 2,387
Idk why people make conclusions they can't confirm We don't KNOW if jesus/the bible is real and we don't KNOW for sure that there was a big bang (hence it being a theory) What we do know is, something out there created us all. But we can't conclude anything because we don't know. You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

Nemo 4,410
FYI, the founding fathers were religious too, so that comment is pure stupidity. They were various in their beliefs and lack thereof, but that's not the point of what Ron Reagan said in the ad. The founding fathers believed in the principle of separation of church and state.* You don't have to be an atheist to believe in that. All it means is that the government can neither favor nor disfavor any specific religion, nor the lack of one. If you're religious, that means protection for your sect, too.* Actually they didn't all agree on that, either. But the ones who did, won out, because it's the principle that was written into our Constitution, in Article 6, and reinforced in the 1st Amendment, and further by the 14th. Nemo 4,410
but to be an atheist you had to have believed in god or whatever you worshipped.. you can't just belt out your an atheist. and how is he going to say he's an atheist and believes in hell? again... an atheist believes in NOTHING. I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here. Many atheists, like me, were of course raised to believe in a religion, which we later rejected. Others were never indoctrinated in the first place. But both types of people are atheists. If no one were religious, then it would indeed be meaningless to speak of atheism. But that's not the case. It has nothing to do with our personal history, it's about what we don't believe vs. what others do. And, again, Ron Reagan is absolutely not in any way implying that he believes in Hell in the video. His entire point there is that he's not afraid of it, because he doesn't believe in it. Bebe 17,289
ok so how do you explain the existence of the whole universe ?Do atheists need to provide an explanation? If you asked me how the universe started I could tell you the big bang theory explains a lot, but it doesn't provide any explanation for the initial conditions of the universe. Therefore my answer would simply be "I don't know!"You claim to know, you claim there was a creator or "God". If you can provide any evidence to prove this was indeed how the universe started then I'll gladly accept such a proposition. Until then I'm going to keep an open mind and not blindly accept any hypothesis that has no evidence to back it up.While I do that I'll continue on doing what I have been doing and keep trying to be the best person I can be. If I end up wrong and your God decides, that because I didn't worship and kiss his ass enough during my lifetime, he will punish me for eternity then your God seems to be quite the asshole. Nemo 4,410
Idk why people make conclusions they can't confirm We don't KNOW if jesus/the bible is real and we don't KNOW for sure that there was a big bang (hence it being a theory)What we do know is, something out there created us all. But we can't conclude anything because we don't know. Just because we don't know everything, that doesn't mean we don't know anything. Science knows that it doesn't have all the answers -- and, contrary to what some people think, this is its greatest strength. Because science is always asking "What am I getting wrong?", testing new hypotheses against the real world, and making successively closer approximations to The Truth, even if The Whole Truth remains unknowable. Religion, on the other hand, offers absolute certainty -- in things that are completely wrong and false. And, yes, anyone who looks at the question objectively can say that much of what's in the Bible is contradicted by provable history, in particular natural history. The past is not completely obscured to us, just because we don't have time machines. Creationists like to ask "Were you there?", but we can tell them, "No, but this tree was, and these rocks, and these bones." They all stand witness. Meanwhile, on the creationists' side, they have... a book."When people thought the earth was flat, they were wrong. When people thought the earth was spherical, they were wrong. But if you think that thinking the earth is spherical is just as wrong as thinking the earth is flat, then your view is wronger than both of them put together." -- Isaac Asimov - http://chem.tufts.edu/answersinscience/relativityofwrong.htm
HighwayGuy 1,498
The creation of the universe will be something that will always be discussed, I don't think it will ever be proven by science eitherIm not exactly religious but I don't believe science has the answers either, because how can you create something from nothing? The answer is probably bigger than what anyone ever expected, but that's just my opinion I could be wrong, everyone has their own beliefs, and I think shoving the idea of "Christianity" down everyone's throats when everyone believes differently is wrong, but so is telling everyone God doesn't exist, because how do you know? I get what the man is saying though, religion shouldn't have anything to do with the political system, but you can't stop politicians beliefs interfering with their work either
Cruelty 6,173
Yes ? OK so shall it be. At least i believe in something . not like some of you here.Well i wohnt reply anymore people linke you are non existent To me. Okay, THAT is rude. How can you think you're superior to atheists, how can you think they're nonexistent, just because they don't believe in God? It's estimated that around 10% of the population don't believe in God, do you just want to forget one person out of every ten? Everyone's allowed to have their own opinions, disregarding them like you have done is unacceptable.
Nemo 4,410
Im not exactly religious but I don't believe science has the answers either, because how can you create something from nothing? So, to everyone who makes this kind of argument: Where does God come from, then?Seriously, this is what you're offering me:Hypothesis A: Nothing -> UniverseHypothesis B: Nothing -> God -> UniverseWhy should I prefer Hypothesis B? Every answer to this that I've heard has been a non-answer. "God always existed." Then why not suppose the Universe always existed, and skip a step? "It's a mystery." Then why not content yourself with saying that the Universe is a mystery, and again save a step? "The Universe looks designed." And God doesn't? Plus, what kind of circular non-logic is that? What does it mean to say that something looks designed? That it doesn't look natural. But now you're saying that nature looks unnatural.

Luc 4,776
Yes, when I mean no association, I mean "hanging out" socially. Of course normal family affection and matters will come up, but on a SPIRITUAL level, she can't discuss spiritual things with her. Your Aunt was a baptized servant of Jehovah and quite honestly she knew the consequences of her being disfellowshipped. I don't know why she was surprised what took place. By her changing religions, she chose to no longer be one of Jehovah's Witnesses. In the congregation, an elder will announce to the congregation "So and so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses". This lets the congregation know to stop association with her...not for the purpose of humiliating or embarrassing. The congregation isn't told WHY the person is no longer practicing, they are simply made aware of the person's spiritual status. Even if she simply changed her religious beliefs and didn't commit s-xual immorality, it still means disfellowshipping based on another scripture. 1 Corinthians 6:14,15,17 says, "Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Be′lial? Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever?..."'Therefore, get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah" Jehovah doesn't accept his people associating with people who don't worship Him. Therefore, removal of the unbeliever would be necessary to keep the congregation spiritually protected and clean. Isn't that very arrogant of Jehovah? You're only allowed to talk with people who love me
