The Child 18,997
Once she has her comeback era she'll be considered a legend.Britney was considered a legend as soon as Circus era started tbh.A true legend always has a flop era and a comeback era. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

The Child 18,997
But Britney,Eminem and Beyonce aren't even 20 years in the industry. Btw some people are already like "Lady who?" Britney is in the industry since 17 years, 3 more years won't change a thing to her status. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

User 352
She is definitely an icon, she changed some rules in pop, without a doubt she had huge impact. But for a legend status has to do many things and show all her facets the next 20 years > as singer, pianist, entertainer, songwriter and artist. Mills 446
Depends on who you asked. The term 'legend' as a form of admiration generally refers to a person who is/was extremely popular for a particular field of work to a point that individual comes off as a representation of that field aka an 'icon', hence the two terms often being interchangeably used. Some see both as equals; some choose to differentiate them by attributing seniority to a 'legend' as opposed to a mere 'icon' (e.g. 88 y/o Tony Bennett is more likely to be called as a music legend at all times than, let's say, the likes of the 56 y/o Prince). But either way, for someone to be regarded as a 'legend' or an 'icon', then one has to be really successful in a notable period of time, of which, for me, Gaga has done during her first three years at the music stratosphere. Oscar 1,031
She's more of a pseudo-legend, or in other words, an icon. She will be a legend but it's not unanimous with the public yet. She still needs to slay the public a bit longer to be on that legend status.
