I feel like we haven't seen Katy's peak yet. Prism, despite having the tragic flop singles, also had some of the highest points of any of the recent eras from the pop girls and I think she'll be able to build on that in the future.

Gaga's was def TFM though, few musicians can ever even come close to what she had then.

TFM was Gaga's peak. TD was bigger than TFM Katy's peak and it's bigger than TFM era I think! But both are great! Don't make me choose!

Fame Romance

Katy's peak era was Teenage Dream, she had 6 #1 singles from the whole era and it's her best-selling album.

Gaga's peak in terms of sales is The Fame, I mean, it's her best-selling album, she had 2 #1 singles on Hot 100 from that album, which have sold more than 7 million each in the US only, Poker Face was the best-selling single of 2009 WW, additionally she had 4 #1 on Pop Songs from that album, she hasn't had that success with any other album.

Katy keeps peaking with each era so I'd say Prism for now since she has tour receipts, single sales, and superbowl.

PRISM wasn't as successful as Teenage Dream in terms of singles or albums sales but increased in tour gross, the same with TF and TFM. It seems that if you have two succesful albums in a row the second one will be your peak. Sure Katy feels huge now but she didn't have with PRISM the same #1 quantity as with TD. It seems that the "peak" is measured with the number of first pages, interviews or time that the media is willing to give you. If the next album doesn't get at least one #1 watch her become the biggest flop ever. Like it or not Gaga's peak was the Fame but it's in TFM era when she felt huge.

Gaga's peak was from Poker Face going #1 in early 2009 to summer of 2011. PF was her biggest single, early 2010 was peak hype amd video success, 2011 had massive album launch but backlash was setting in.

Katy's peak - entire Teenage Dream era from June 2010 to summer 2012. It was more slow burning than Gaga's peak, and the TD tour was planned before the era was half over, so didn't benefit from all the momentum.

Gaga had several high peaks. Poker Face reaching number one everywhere, the hermaphrodite rumors, everyone talking about her outfits, paparazzi performance, paparazzi/bad romance/telophone 1-2-3 punch then after ALL of that she had the meat dress, egg, Born This Way era, Jo Calderone, BTWB tour AND Fame launch. 2009- 2012 she was at her peak.

Katy is interesting because if you look at the growth of her career from the beginning to the end of the Teenage Dream era it's quite remarkable. She started with a worldwide smash hit after smash hit. Unfortunately even though she was always on the radio from 2010- 2012 she never felt huge. It's hard to pinpoint a peak for her but I'll go with Roar release. Her job In the music industry is basically to supply pop radio with hits, just like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.

Well you said "sold". Sales isn't the same thing as controversy.

And as for Hot 100, doesn't mean that it sold more if it's higher. Maybe there were less releases during Judas.

Uncle is certified platinum whereas Judas doesn't have any certifications.

I came here to say the same thing. I just want to remind that Gaga's peak was on MJ's/Britney's/Madonna's peak level of epicness/media attention. Katy sold a lot, but the cultural and mediatic impact is not even comparable.
