Doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't staged. If producers told them to be mean and it backfired and got negative publicity, they can fire them. It would be a better move than admitting "we told judges to tear people apart for publicity; " this way they'd get to look like the good guys instead of scheming PR types. 

Now I am not saying this is staged. Knowing Natalia and her obsessive behavior with her husband, it could sadly be true. But it's not implausible for this to have been a staged reaction gone wrong.

I guess she wasn't kidding when she wrote Perfectionist.

She's facing a huge amount of backlash from New Zealanders after calling out contestant, Joe Irvine, for apparently stealing the look of her husband, fellow judge Willy Moon. She accused Irvine of being unoriginal and having "no artistic integrity", saying she was disgusted to be in his presence, having to give the singer feedback. People believe her actions were unnecessary and basically bullying, with many going as far to lay formal complaints to the show's broadcaster Media Works and creating a petition to have her removed from the show.
