A #8 debut on the US charts with barely no promo only to her hardcore fans?! I'm sooo proud of marina being a fan for 4 years and watching her progress makes me very happy!

Marina's popularity is so strange to me. From a grand perspective, shes pretty under the radar despite the fact that she makes pop music. I don't think if you ask just anyone on the street they'll know who she is. But shes one of those artists that has a following online through social media like tumblr and pop music blogs and honestly if you pay attention you hear her songs everywhere, at LA Fitness they are advertising the release of Froot and they play Primadonna and Radioactive during normal business hours. They used to play Primadonna and its video at malls here in LA. Idk its like shes around, just not everyone notices.

That's very strange! Yea I think you answered your own statement lol she has a following mainly due to social media and tumblr..also don't forget she had HUGE promo around How to be a Heartbreaker because it was featured on Glee

you're definitely wrong on that one. If she cared about commercial success her album wouldn't sound the way it does and she wouldn't have released it in the way she did.

I'm sure she'd like to sell at least 50k in her home country. The way the charts work now (low album sales but frontloaded), if you can't debut top 5 and you don't have hit singles, an album can really plummet.

that Pretty Amazing review :sweep:  It's just another opinion, but its almost literally the opposite reception that most people reviewing the album had

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

I am ashamed to say that I never listened to FROOT.  I seriously love her previous albums.

Do I have to repent?

It's definitely her best album. Quality control is on FLEEK. It's the perfect length, no fillers, and the songs are phenomenal, all bundled together with a colorful image and cohesive execution. This album is what turned me into a superfan. Her talent knows no bounds!

98 - Sputnikmusic

Blending the light touch of her backing band with selectively applied electronic elements, Marina gives a more refined take on songs that in her past might have been layered in obtrusive electropop production or overwhelming string arrangements.

Current score: 79 (+2)
