SISTERV 3,887
sis he said Taylor's still debuting higher than ARTPOP and Prism's combined first week sales. MDNA didn;t achieve that. Taylor did and even more yeah but he was suggesting that because Prism or ARTPOP didn't achieve that level of success it makes those albums inferior? And MDNA did better than both Prism and ARTPOP and had a slayworthy tour but everyone knows it is quality-wise a weak Madonna album. Who cares that Taylor is semi-slaying and pandering to a niche crowd of pyscophant girls in their teen years? Its not groundbreaking. Its not interesting. It's been done for generations, and quite honestly its a forgettable record. I guarantee you after a week or two this will be old news, she will have another hit or two, and the era will die. There is no longevity in a record like this that is bland. And even some of her fans are suggesting it has her weakest lyrical content to date. I'm sorry, but quality records slay...for long periods of time. Records that are wining about love and are bubblegum pop (especially after the artist betrayed their original style), is not something that is very honest if you ask me, or of any true art form. Cody Draco 2,531
Not when Ultraviolence has three good tracks and the rest are boring. I guess you could say the same about 1989. I just think it's better, but I do prefer Lana overall Ultraviolence is mature whereas 1989 is pandering to pre-teens and teens with trendhopping tastes. Like what you like, but don't expect me to love your tastes. :katy:

Born Brave 2,072
Their not incomprehensible, they are just more intelligent, interesting and thought provoking. Having simple lyrics does not mean they are bad, but in Taylor's case, she over repeats choruses/words, and sings about the same thing she always does. She does not really expand her ideas. Some of those lyrics are just not very well put together either. Also, I am only comparing Taylor to Gaga, because this member responded me with a comparison between the two. Take me to your planet, take me to your planet, take me to your leader your leader your leader?????
Quark 7,098
No, the album is just not great. This people who say that people stan for success/basicness/easy to understand lyrics are just pressed that the album is selling at an unreal rate
GagaMyBlood95 9,915
Or a lot of people are saying it's great because they like the album. Of course, that's possible too... I mean, if a song like Roar can smash and have 5M+ sales, I'm sure there are people who love this album

That is your opinion, and again, it doesn't mean that they are superior just because Taylor's are more relateable. No. This album isn't inspired by her breakups or failed relationships but by her move to NY, her girlfriends and the 80s. And saying Taylor only writes about the same thing is 2009 internet troll shade btw who will love me when the night is over

Spock 20,290
No, the album is just not great. Again, your opinion. And everybody seems to disagree with you because it has a 75 score, and ARTPOP by comparison, who you claim is a superior album, has a 61 who will love me when the night is over
SISTERV 3,887
Wrong. I said combined. Let me break this down for you since you seem to be the numbers guru on this forum. Got your calculator ready??? PRISM 286,000 ARTPOP 258,000 Total- 544,000 MDNA- 359,000 Sooooo..... you tell me.. Did MDNA really outsell ARTPOP and PRISM combined or? Is math different in your delusional world that you live in? I didn't disagree with the combined number. I said that MDNA did better than ****ing both PRISM and ARTPOP and that should have nothing to do with the quality of the record. Would all you delusional number obsessed monster stand pay attention to what Gaga says? Quit placing values on numbers. There have been a lot of albums that sell pretty well, even a lot of artists that have good five album runs, but their music is bland pop with nothing to it that is unique or original. I don't care if 1989 sells twice as much as Thriller. It's a crap album. Its probably her worst. The lyrical content is boring. The instrumentals don't touch what Gaga or Katy do. And the fact she betrayed her original style completely shows her need to stay relevant.

In Taylor's case, especially on 1989, it's obvious.
