It's just a green screen square that he projects the cover image of the album he's reviewing on for each video :toofunny:

record stores did get large cardboard album covers "artboards" for store display because I tweeted the main record store in Atlanta and they said they wouldn't give it to me or sell it

they always sit in the back stockroom like a year after the release though

Just ate half a watermelon and watched the Shades of Cool Music Video like 6 times.

I'm pretty sure that the video serves as an alternate, almost literal meaning of the song.

In it, shes a ghost, and hes seeing memories of her being with him... He lives in Shades of Cool because hes depressed now, and her, being a ghost -- she can't reach out to him and make things better.. Thats why when Lana is walking on the street and sees at him in his car, she ducks and kind of looks away. Shes not really there. Also explains the fx on her for every chorus, and how he doesnt seem to "really" notice her when she swims by him in the pool. He just gets glimpses of her, but in the end shes still unable to help him get over it or save him. It also explains why even though hes been seen with Lana the entire song, hes still driving home alone. The emotional delivery of the phrase "He prays for Love, he prays for peace, and maybe...someone new...?"

makes sense when it comes from the perspective of shes physically unable to stop him from feeling how hes feeling -- if shes a ghost, maybe shes slightly uncomfortable with the idea of him moving on from her. I think how she pronounces "someone new..?" sounds noticably different from the mood of the rest of the sentence/phrase, as if her conviction has wavered.. Its possible that he wants to get over her, so hes praying for maybe even a new woman to get him over Lana. And still, she cant help him.

When I just look at the song from a purely lyrical perspective, i see the song slightly different. I see it as about her relationship with a man who puts up walls and fronts. She can't get through his shades of cool (depression/sadness) and his generally indifferent attitude to people and things.. But she has to remind herself that at the end of the day, its her that he really loves. Shes attracted to this fatalistic character to the point that shes convinced herself that small things are a form of proof of their love, (and she may be right) For example, "But when he calls, he calls for ME and not for you, He lives for love, he loves his d--gs, he loves his baby too"

Shes putting a lot of value into the fact that despite him being a depressed, untouchable man, he still favors her --- even slightly, vices aside. The chorus sounds like her stating that even though they are together and he "loves her" she cant do much to change his attitude or get him out of his depression.  "He lives for love, for women too, I'm one of many on his blue" implies that in his current state (his shade of blue)

But in both the end of the prechorus talks about how she cant do anyhting about his strange or peculiar "weather", which to me sounds like she realizes his depression/indifference/fast life-style Is only a phase, and she shouldnt bother with trying to fix him anymore --- but it doesnt make her any less distressed, judging by the chorus.

With that said, maybe shes not a ghost in the sense of a dead ghost, but maybe she left this man and ended things because she realized how useless her efforts towards bettering him were.

(But honestly i think its more Lana if shes dead, how often does Lana write about such tragic relationships only to imply that she broke up with them for their faults? It seems more in character for Lana to have stayed with such a man regardless of his faults)

Also,, im 99% sure she says "Your heart... lives in me." and "Your Heart... lives in blue" during the bridge underneath the orgasmic guitar solo"

The only thing i can't figure out is literally what the stuff is in the video @ like 2:30 that appears to look like cartridges falling?? Like i dont know what those things are, but the rest of the blurry stuff seems like memories to me (American Flags, Fireworks, Flowers etc. -- Lana dances around and he associates them with her) I think i see an old time-y gun but not sure.

Okay, soo this is what I have to say.

I used to LOVE Born To Die! It was flawless. But never got into Blue Jeans or Born To Die (song) idk why. 😂

And also, I LOVE a lot of her unreleased songs soo much. <3

BUT, I'm not feeling this album. I like a couple songs like West Coast, Florida Kilos, FMWTTT, and Money Power Glory. But the rest, imo, doesn't have that "wow" factor and isn't intersting. Idk.

I think, Lana's released songs are just not working for me, well half of them. Like the slow ones, which is mostly all of this album. Does anyone else feel this way?

I don't want to eat eaten here I'm just trying to say things and see how people reply, cuz I really want to like her!
