No, not if the single is out in mid-May in the UK.

It'll be after the American tour like I thought

REVIEW: 'WEST COAST' by LANA DEL REY

'West Coast' is the lead single off of Lana Del Rey's third release 'Ultraviolence'. The song is built around Lana Del Rey's famous whispering vocals that haunt and chill any listener that decides to give the track a chance. From beginning to end, Lana Del Rey endlessly talks about her lover and the love the share together and, predictably, the life on the west coast.

The verses share intimate descriptions of the west coast lifestyle but fail to grasp the listener's attention. Sounding off-putting compared to the much more catchy and chilling chorus, the verses do no justice to mend the song into a solid listen. The verses fail to capture the attention of the listener, which causes a dilemma that may become probable if the listener is unwilling to get to the juicy chorus. The transition in production-style from the verses to the chorus are done quite well and serve as a unique highlight in the song's production.

The chorus is where the singer is crooning over her love for her lover and the longing she has to be with him in full harmony and unity. The chorus is haunting, catchy, and quite frankly infectious. If it were not for the chorus, the song would be a bland listen from start to finish. However, the chorus saves the song from the early destruction set upon by the poorly-developed verses. Lana Del Rey manages to keep her interesting vocals that continue to entertain and dramatize the lyrics of the song to the fullest.

Overall: The song is corrupted early on by under-developed verses but saved with an infectious, attention-grabbing chorus. The production is overall strong, but still doesn't match the vocals Lana Del Rey delivers throughout the entire song. The lyrics are quite great, but it feels a bit recycled at this point. How many times must we hear about Lana Del Rey's lover and her movie-style, cinematic distress in love? But maybe that is just the persona we have unintentionally grown to adore from her.

Overall Score: 3.5/5

Helix

Does the ultraviolence era technically start now considering the single will be released in UK this week?

I could personally see the album being released July because that'd give Lana time for promo after the NA tour. of course a May release would be heaven though

I thought the exact same. The verses ruin it for me.

It's been forever on repeat and I'm still reeling in the ecstasy of West Coast. An easy 10/10.

#2!  :excited2:

I can't get over how infectious and ethereal this song is. As my boyfriend put it, it's as if Aphrodite herself wrote it.
