dc1993 1
Omg Tropico is coming!! <3 BTW guys, she's praying to John Wayne in the teaser. I've seen so many posts like "wtf who's john he looks like a scooby doo villain wtf" like come on. Come the **** on It's John Wayne. Film icon. Ask your grandparents. jk Oh I ****ing love this hahahaha I would love to know what Lana's favorite books are. Two obvious ones are Nabokov's Lolita and Whitman's Leaves of Grass :) Im sure she's mentioned more in interviews before though
dc1993 1
Totally random but, in Black Beauty Lana sings "cuz you like your women Spanish, dark, strong and proud". With that in mind, and looking at the Tropico teaser featuring Lana praying to John Wayne, it's worth noting that John Wayne was married 3 times, to 3 women of Hispanic descent. He was also fluent in Spanish. Just something I thought was interesting :) EDIT: (from his Wiki) He requested that his tombstone read "Feo, Fuerte y Formal", a Spanish epitaph Wayne described as meaning "ugly, strong, and dignified". reminds me of American - "Be young, be dope, be proud". Just some observations/correlations that I thought were interesting.

Tommymonster44 0
Okay off topic, but I find this interesting. Lana obviously has a top notch education, which I don't think most people realize mainly because her fans are mostly teenage girls. Behind the superficiality of her music, there really is an art form. Body Electric is actually a reference to Walt Whitman, which is the father of American poetry, free verse, and rap music. It isn't subtle, because his poem is literally called "I sing the Body Electric." It is rather lengthy, but it can be found here: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/174740

There's an interview where she talked about her studies and stuff, no idea what publication it was from though. She also has a song called Fordham Road Besides having an expensive and top-notch education though, I think she simply values the written word over anything else. Her twitter bio includes "American poet" and she's spoken about how it was her dream to be a great poet, when she was younger (Ride monologue). I've said it before and I'll say it again - she should publish a book of poetry (inc. lyrics), the way Leonard Cohen and others have, it'd be beautiful.
