Did Gaga AUDITION for AHS?

I'm pretty sure Ryan contacted her and asked if she was interested and she said yes, then they spent some time reading lines and whatnot to see how it would work out.

So I'm guessing she had a pretty good chance of getting the role for just being her and then they liked her acting as well and it was set.

Big stars dont audition...they are asked to play the certain role

Considering Emma Roberts of all people got her part by Ryan Murphy just calling her, I'm sure he did the same with Gaga

Doubtful for someone of her calibre.

More than likely Ryan just thought she would be a good addition to the show and got in contact with her.

Do you think she auditioned for the role? I'm hoping more than anything that she wasn't blindly casted. I wanna feel assured that the creators recognized and approve her abilities of pulling off lead role....

What do you think of Gaga's acting based on what we've seen so far?

She tells talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, “I’m not sure (about acting). When I talk about acting I’m always surprised that no one ever asks me to audition. They just say, ‘We want you to do this movie.’ I’m like, ‘Why? You’ve never seen me act before. I want to audition, I want to work for it.’ So when I get offered jobs and I don’t audition for them, I (turn them down).â€

Doesn't necessarily mean that this applies to this circumstance. I'm sure we'll get more insight when the pre-show interviews come around.

I think it does apply 100%, considering this speaks directly to her work ethic regarding show business/ acting. And having to work for everything she has from day 1 instills these kinds of principals that don't just go away, most recently training 6 months for the oscars on top of all the things she also had to do last year.

Thats not to say that ryan wanted her to be a part of the show and asked her to audition for the role but already made up his mind to have her in it. Based on her audition they properly knew the level of role she will have in the show, and it looks like a big long lasting role.

I agree. It's just very unlikely that Gaga had a serious audition where she could potentially ~not~ get the part. It is a Ryan Murphy show.

That Ellen show was a long time ago and Gaga has a few small roles under her belt now. I doubt she's going to force an audition if they want her and the project seems right.

People need to quit taking everything she says as gospel for all time. Things change.

Well my work ethic certainly doesn't change or diminish just because I had a few jobs in the last 3-4 years. But I guess Gaga's does???

I have to disagree. I don't think any producer, director, or creator of a show would risk the shows integrity by casting someone just because their famous. Unless they really don't care about the show just the bling.

But I see where you're coming from. They know she can act and most likely already gave her the role in their heads. However they definitely would not give her the big role she is playing if she didn't do a real audition.

I understand why you think this way but this happens all the time in Hollywood. Once you're a star of a certain level, you get an automatic pass through to many avenues: including appearances in Ryan Murphy's shows.

It has no effect on her work ethic whether she did or did not audition. She'll still give it all she has, no matter how she got the part. I don't know if she auditioned or not and there is really no reason to care either way.

I remember she said once she wanted to be cast for her talent and audition (something like that) and didn't want to just be cast for being her.

I hope she did. This will improve her acting skills a lot too! So excited.
