Dominic 11,922 Posted February 24, 2015 Share Posted February 24, 2015 So we all know in the music world we have our great Icons, those who it doesn't matter what they release; flop or not they still have the icon status as they no longer have anything to prove. People such as Madonna, Britney, Beyonce and I'd say even Rihanna now she's been in the game 10 years. Has Gaga reached this level? I'm not talking about talent as we know her talent itself is iconic but I mean her position on the pop food chain would you say she is seen as iconic now? For me she appeara to be on the right track, she's definitely changed the industry and has proven she is a force to be reckoned with however I think she hasn't had enough time in the business to reach that level yet. I define icons as people who, after their time in the spotlight, are still being referenced and remembered. People like Elvis and Micheal Jackson. I think Britney and Rihanna, after five years of dropping out of the spotlight, will be sadly generally forgotten (Cher anyone? ). The truth is, I would consider her already an icon but she needs at least ten years more to cement herself in the minds of the fast forgetting public ;) So no, I don't think she is an icon. Yet.
