ARTPOP was very Gaga....jazz is very LADY.

I can't see her ever giving up colorful vomit because that sxsw performance blew me away. I hope she continues to do both, but I am up for whatever. The world should love her no matter what because her talents shine through no matter what she is doing.

I think she should continue to do both. I don't want her to turn into this singer who just stands there and sings looking pretty because that is not her.

I'm glad she's happy but this "new gaga" at least in terms of style makes everything she said prior to this seem like a lie... " I don't want to be another b---h in a dress" and countless interviews saying this is how I am ( her style) it just seems so fake now. :(

tbh :(

Pop music will never be low-brow

/thread

her happiness does not have to equal performing mid-tempo old songs, does success really make her that unhappy?

Agree so much with the first part, especially when it comes to someone who is as proud of her artistic integrity as Gaga. It's a little upsetting to see people act like her time making pop music was a waste. Not that I think that was the point of the thread, but I do agree.

However, the pop industry doesn't seem like an easy place to be "free" as an artist, or even as a person, so I can certainly understand why Gaga might have been unhappy, & I think that could be why things like the Oscars performance and C2C seemed especially refreshing for her. I remember during TFM she talked (or at least implied) a lot about disagreements with the label... To me, it sounded like she was tired of having to fight to preserve her freedom, but that's just speculation. Besides, her sadness might not have had anything to do with her career.

MTE - I feel like both "sides" are a part of her. I love them both and find them equally valuable.

There's no reason she has to constantly stay the same though. Just because she's been feeling like a dress & vocals kind of artist recently doesn't mean what she did before was inauthentic. She was way too passionate and hard working for it to have been fake (and I think the same can be said for what she's doing now). ;)
