I still hate ARTPOP era, sorry.

Such a disaster. Promo sucked, videos that never came, so many false promises and false starts even after Troy left. It just was an absolute mess. Tour was super successful worldwide but looked tacky and cheap compared to TFM/BTWB honestly.

One of the worst managed pop eras by a major star in a long time. It also came off of BTW, a messy era that Gaga promised to make up for.

Actually, she spent all her money on the music video for her third single and included as many songs as possible because she knew the label was not going to support a record that nobody buys, but she still wanted to do so much with the album.

Also, she went on a huge tour and spread the message of being a creative person and embracing yourself. The era didn't end until late 2014.

The era didn't have to end the way it did. GUY was an awful single choice but Gypsy or even Venus would have done well with the right push. And it was never too late to release the DWUW vid, the song was still charting when she released GUY.

Ending the era was the smart thing to do long-term. They were going to keep pushing it and release Act II originally, then the plan changed to quickly moving on to Cheek to Cheek, which was incredibly important for rebranding purposes and the vitality of her career. But let's not act like they couldn't have kept going, she moved on from that era as quickly as possible without completely disowning it. Beyoncé released 7 singles for 4 and pushed it like crazy despite none of the singles going top 10.

I love ARTPOP so I would have loved to see more performances, interviews, and videos, but it really was the smartest decision to just cut it given she wanted to release an album with Tony and the media was after her. I'm so glad she included Venus in the G.U.Y. video, though! At least something.

Well, cut her some damn slack. She didn't expect things to spiral out of her control, and she certainly didn't do it on purpose. :smh:
