ARTPOP taken on it's own didn't add anything to her legacy, it's a footnote in her career. Cheek to Cheek has been a much bigger era and has actually taken her to new heights in the industry. No question, but that doesn't discredit what she has achieved. Yes an artist needs to work very hard and achieve great success before they can gain the resources to create Volantis, be featured in The Louvre, film in Hearst Castle and work with Jeff Koons but that doesn't diminish those achievements. Tony Bennett wouldn't have asked her to do an album if it wasn't for what she had achieved either you know. ARTPOP took her to new, and incredible, heights in the art world. Oh I wasn't trying to diminish those achievements, my point was just that ARTPOP itself, as an album and era, didn't do anything for her career. She was able to do all those things (work with Koons, film at Hearst, be in the Louvre, etc.) because of the massive name and reputation she built with her first 3 albums, so to say "ARTPOP took her to new heights" isn't true because she was already there. It was just a treading water era, a cleaning house and regrouping era, an interlude, before Cheek to Cheek which is actually taking her somewhere she hasn't been before.
