It’s been said that writing about a bad relationship is therapeutic. If that’s true, then the following celebrity exes, who famously addressed their high-profile former relationships in song, have clearly gotten closure. If you’re experiencing your own heartache this Valentine’s Day, listening to any of these songs may bring you some catharsis as well.

We’ve compiled a list of 11 songs by and about real-life celebrity ex-couples. There’s bound to be one that fits your personality type and current breakup situation, whether you’re in the angry stage (Big Sean’s “I Don’t F--- With Youâ€), feeling remorseful (Chris Brown’s “Crawlâ€), or are completely over it and enjoying your newfound singlehood (Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Getting Back Togetherâ€). Listen up and learn.

11. Ciara – “I Bet†(Acoustic)

You know a visual artist like Ciara is pretty mad when she opts to sit on a stool and go acoustic when singing about betrayal. She and Future called off their engagement last summer, just a few months after having their first child together. It sounds like she still harbors some resentment.

10. K. Michelle – “Maybe I Should Callâ€

To K. Michelle’s credit, she does warn her boyfriends about her fair use policy. In other words, if you date her, you go into the relationship with the understanding that she just might write a song about you. This sorrowful ditty is about her then-secret romance with Idris Elba. The artist who dubs herself “The Black Taylor Swift†sings about his main chick, their new baby, and many other juicy details.

9. Keyshia Cole – “Rick Jamesâ€

Considering Keyshia Cole has admitted to getting physical with her ex, former Cleveland Cavaliers player Daniel “Booby†Gibson, and she threatens to “slap a b---h like Rick James†on the song’s chorus, we actually feel a bit scared for Daniel, especially after seeing the video. As a Daniel lookalike is depicted sleeping with another woman, alternating scenes follow Keyshia and her crew of bicycle-riding B-girls en route to the future crime scene. We’ve never seen such a frightened look on a guy’s face.

8. Big Sean – “I Don’t F--- With You†featuring E-40

A song seems like a nice, sentimental wedding gift for your ex-fiancée… well, unless your name is Naya Rivera, and your former boo is a rapper by the name of Big Sean. Two months after the Glee actress married another guy on the day she was supposed to wed the Detroit MC, Big Sean issued this fiery diss, counting his blessings for dodging a “bullet from a crazy b---h.†In the video, he plays a football player who channels his frustrations to lead his team to victory. Big Sean has since moved on to a relationship with Ariana Grande, so maybe his rage has subsided by now.

7. Chris Brown – “Crawlâ€

This sensitive, apologetic Chris Brown must be the guy that kept Rihanna going back to after such a tumultuous breakup. After months of angry Twitter rants and unremorseful mixtapes, C-Breezy begged for a chance to “crawl back to love,†and the song was so emotional, some people were actually even rooting for him.

6. Selena Gomez – “The Heart Wants What It Wantsâ€

Boy, Justin Bieber is such a heartbreaker, he’s even got Selena Gomez “sippin’ on something,†crying, and reminiscing about good and bad times in this sad clip. The video shows that despite JB’s indiscretions, cutting him loose is easier said than done.

5. Rihanna – “We Found Loveâ€

This MTV Video Music Award-winning video is the reason why we never got a Lifetime movie about Rihanna and Chris Brown’s troubled relationship. The video chronicled the stories we had been reading in the press: capturing teenage love, debauchery, and the sad, downward-spiraling crash ending.

4. Katy Perry – “Part of Meâ€

Katy may not have had future ex-husband Russell Brand in mind when she penned “Part of Me†in 2010, the same year they were married. But Russell surely appeared to be her inspiration when she performed the song on the Grammys in 2012, just a few months after Russell filed for divorce after just 14 months of marriage. For the Grammys, Katy changed a lyric to: “Keep your diamond ring/In fact, you can keep everything… Except for me.†In the music video, she portrays a woman so distraught after accusing her man of having an affair that she enlists in the Army for a restart.

3. Miley Cyrus – “Wrecking Ballâ€

On the heels of rumors that Miley and Liam Hemsworth’s relationship was on the rocks, Miley dropped this bombshell music video. She sure knows how to pour salt on an open wound. Even though she was the only person in the clip, Liam had to feel some jealousy. It couldn’t be easy for him to watch his ex swinging naked on a wrecking ball for all the world to see.

2. Justin Timberlake – “Cry Me a Riverâ€

Nobody wants to see pop’s cutest couple call it quits. And this sometimes applies to the pop stars themselves, according to Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River†video, which accuses his ex Britney Spears of cheating. In a sick plot of revenge, Justin turns stalker and breaks into Brit’s place, bringing along his rebound girl for the joyride. JT has never been so creepy.

1. Taylor Swift – “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Togetherâ€

How can you not love Taylor Swift? She manages to drag her former boyfriends through the mud while smiling and skipping around in her music video as her happy-go-lucky listeners sing along. Genius! This particular pop masterpiece had Jake Gyllenhaal’s name written all over it.
