I think it's going to be something "The Sound of Music" related.

- The movie was released in 1965, making this year it's 50th anniversary.

- She's working/rehearsing with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (also producing the Oscars) who also created/produced "The Sound of Music Live!" together starring Carrie Underwood in 2013 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sound_of_Music_Live!

- They are also working with Stephen Oremus who is an American musician who has worked on Broadway theatre productions as a musical director and as an orchestrator.

I want her performing Til it Happens to You ! but I am beginning to doubt it since Diane Warren hasn't said anything about it and she couldn't shut up about how excited she is for people to hear it before. Makes me think this will be a diff song so maybe you're right

Can't wait to find out what she will be performing.... most likely a tribute to old songs from the movies... I doubt it's a new song, because only nominated songs and tributes are performed at the Oscars

Madge broke the Grammy rule so Gagaloo can break the Oscars one. #TwoStepsBehindMe

I find it really hard to tell if the appearances and looks lately are just fitting in with C2C era or strategically re-positioning Gaga to legend-status TIMELESS performer who isn't about crazy looks and gimmicks.

Hopefully the latter.

"Lady Gaga is a once in a lifetime artist who's musical evolution keeps growing.  We are proud to have her perform on the Oscars for the very first time," says Zadan and Meron.

There's no rule at the Grammys about performing a new song, Gaga did that years ago with Born This Way.  I'm surprised more people don't do it, it's great promotion for a new single--well, if the song is good.  The Oscars is completely different, Gaga will sing what they invite her to sing.

- It seems as part of the show could possibly be a tribute to Broadway - with Neil Patrick Harris hosting, Jennifer Hudson performing (In January it was announced that Hudson would be making her Broadway debut as Shug Avery in a revival of The Color Purple) and Anna Kendrick performing (she starred in the recent film adaptation of the Broadway musical Into The Woods, which is nominated for three Academy Awards).
