Dayum 240
Nah, she has a long, healthy discography of great pop songs that don't really sound like anything else in contemporary pop. She had great pop songs. But the sole fact some don't sound like anything else in contemporary pop does not make them quality songs. As 4TwistedShadows has mentioned; the thing is, one's idea about quality is subjective; it can vary depending on one's tastes or standards.

As 4TwistedShadows has mentioned; the thing is, one's idea about quality is subjective; it can vary depending on one's tastes or standards. As I said before, her songs are well-written and stand out amongst her contemporaries. Even if the lyrical content doesn't resound with you, she clearly knows how to write killer melodies and choruses. Especially from a melodic standpoint, not sure how you can deny that her songs just plain work. And yes, obviously everyone will look at her work differently. But if you don't care for her songwriting... what are you doing here?
Dayum 240
If you've watched more interviews .You know that every time she was saying "And actually this is what ARTPOP is all about " and she was saying a different thing. So no I don't think she knew exactly what it is. It was interesting tho "My ARTPOP could mean anything." It's in her lyrics ffs. It's the laziest concept; I don't know what it is, so it'll be just whatever you think it'll be.

I am not denying that some of her songs just work. Your rhetorical question should suggest to you that I care?

LOL, I'm a fan of Lady Gaga ofc I know the lyrics of the song. Your argument is non too diligent as well. LG: "Could show you all the reasons why my ARTPOP could mean anything." Does not tell us the reasons. If the lyrics tell me anything about ARTPOP, then ARTPOP does one thing. It <strike>freezes</strike> frees our mind. djBuffoon 12,123
Your argument is non too diligent as well. She has explained, in many, what this (rather esoteric) album is about. If you choose not to attempt putting the pieces together, that is not her problem. Or would you rather she spoon-feed the meaning to you? :mwah:
Dayum 240
So... the implication being that most do not? Can you just say what you mean and not dance around the questions? Some resonate with me, some don't. Some work, some don't. I care about her that's why I am on this forum. I am not trying to put up an offence or anything so you should let your guard down.

Dayum 240
Maybe because I identified with her struggle and her urge to remain true to herself amidst people criticizing her and not believing in her, but, watching her give such a raw performance at SXSW was honestly one of my favorite moments as a fan. Never has a performance of hers felt so visceral, so emotional, so free...I get goosebumps thinking about it. Love the pun. I'm not sure how to read any of this, but I'll take it. Btw, I love that you love Lady Gaga so much. Speaking like a true Gaga fan.
Harry 26,836
This. I have absolutely 0 respect and sympathy for those who don't write a single lyric. You don't respect Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston or Frank Sinatra?
