kaojen 1,571
We have only seen her recording with redone so far. LG5 is definitely coming before the second jazz album. In any case. I'm excited for more jazz! More music to sing along to in the shower, pretending I'm in vintage broadway le sigh
Coop 15,354
It may be a good thing a pop album isn't on the horizon. She will have more time to write and perfect it. I just don't understand how some refuse to support her. It's not Burger King, you can't have it your way
SKANK 14,288
It may be a good thing a pop album isn't on the horizon. She will have more time to write and perfect it. I just don't understand how some refuse to support her. It's not Burger King, you can't have it your way I just don't understand why you think being an admirer of an artist's work means supporting every creative venture they partake in. It's not Burger King, so we might not be able to have it our way, but it's also not McDonalds, so we don't have to always be lovin' it.
Jenniferella 2,774
even just a solo piano record with no vocals to really test her chops would be awesome…Oh my god...I'm loving this idea ! "I have been writing LG5 since I was 13"

Valextra 58
I'm hoping this is a stepping stone for her to find her own original jazz voice and gain confidence in the genre. I love these old tunes but would love to see Gaga in more of a Diane Krall or Norah Jones role, but more avant Garde. This is a perfect starting place though to get people to take her more seriously outside pop. This is the only good point of this messy discussion. I guess it's not easy find it when you basically did another genre for most of your career, but she is still very young so I hope that one day she will deliver a new thing, also not totally jazz but with pop-rnb influence like the masterpiece that it was 'Back to Black' by Amy Winehouse or 'Back to Basics' by Xtina. I guess that this is the classic first step to do, because Amy, Norah in general did a lot of covers of classic jazz as start. It would be amazing if she works with Salam Reemi and Mark Ronson. SKANK 14,288
Oh my god...I'm loving this idea ! It would be incredible wouldn't it? She could be a drag queen Thelonius Monk.

Jenniferella 2,774
It would be incredible wouldn't it? She could be a drag queen Thelonius Monk.It would be ! The work she did for Paparazzi at the piano for example makes me think she could be a great instrumental artist ! CannaeDrive 3,412
It would be incredible wouldn't it? She could be a drag queen Thelonius Monk. I can see Gaga emulating Thelonius Monk somehow in her own way (not necessarily as Drag Queen tho), anyway it would be awesome, I love T.Monk. As for her next jazz album, let's not assume right now how it will turn out, I'm still hopeful she could surprise us in that she feels confident enough to put that Gaga brand on her next jazz performances. TheOriginalOne 10,857
Gaga has her soft intro: "Heaven, I'm in heaven. And my heart beats so, that I can hardly speak. And I seem to find, that happiness, I seek. When we're out together, GRINDING CHEEK TO CHEEK" *cue intro music to DWUW* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH MY GOD :lmao: :lmao:
SKANK 14,288
It would be ! The work she did for Paparazzi at the piano for example makes me think she could be a great instrumental artist ! She did claim to be a classically trained pianist right? All the short pieces she composed during The Fame Era were great. The bit of rag time she did on French TV was terrific. I'd love to hear her do an entire album of just her at the piano, or even just an instrumental track on her next pop record. You are right that we shouldn't jump to conclusions, but all we are able to do at this point is speculate. A Cole Porter record doesn't sound all that promising to me. Tony is creatively complacent and so is Gaga at this point. I just would like to see something a little more inspired by two great artists. I'm with you, hoping she will surprise us.
