No, the idea of human rights was basically developed at the French Revolution.

The USA didn't invent anything. In fact they partly stole our scientists. Of course US invent some things, but the thing you mentioned aren't invented by the US. 

 

Oh and to the part of after the World War. I don't think it's good that US is being the only superpower in the world. Religion plays are too large part in their politics and society unlike in some other countries.

In fact, a government like the one the U.S. created hadn't been seen before, and much of the worlds governments draw inspiration from the U.S. model. 

 

The United States clearly won the space race, and did so with a far more larger team of people, rather than any one man. Apollo 11 (the first vehicle to land on the moon) was developed by NASA, and mostly built by two U.S. companies. 

 

Flight (namely the first airplane) was created by WIlbur and Orville right of Ohio, two citizens of the United States. Their first flight was in 1903. 

 

Now the automobile, you are correct that Benz did create the first gasoline propelled automobile, but actually two inventors created automobiles before him. Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot of France created one using steam in 1769 and Robert Anderson of Scotland created an automobile utilizing electricity in 1839. So while I did make a mistake in saying that the U.S. invented the first automobile, you too were incorrect. 

 

As far as the role the United States assumed past World War I and II, was definitely that of a leadership role, but they certainly weren't the only superpower nation. The League of Nations, formed in the aftermath of World War I had 63 separate nations as members. In fact, Germany was a member from 1926 until they pulled out in 1933 due to the rise of the Nazi. Post World War II the United Nations were created, and four separate nations led it. The U.S., Great Britain, the USSR, and China. 

 

Of course, in the end, we must also remember that these were invented by people rather than countries as a whole.

You guys didn't shaped alone modern society. And you are by far not the most progressive country. By that I'd call Sweden or Netherlands more pogressive. (Or the European Union in general, if we make it in terms of size compared to the USA)

But no one is saying the US is the most progressive country. It's not. That is a FACT.

I think the US gets a lot of credit for things because a lot of times it was the first in making something more popular or appealing.

For example, the gasoline automobile was invented by Benz, a German BUT the car was made highly accessible by Ford Motor with the Model T. in the early 1900's before it did in Europe. It was also manufactured in an assembly line which later became used by more manufacturers.

This is why many countries together shaped modern society even if the US had a lot of influence in the 20th century.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. It's not about bragging rights or anything. At the end of my comment I stated that these inventions were really made by people, not countries. I'm far more interested in the human capacity for innovation and adaptation, than what country they call home.

You just can't say country A made invention B because most inventions have a long time of process to perfection, so I agree.
