Austin is joined on camera by his boyfriend Nicolay who tries to comfort him as he explains that he’s decided to leave the school rather than stay in an environment that wasn’t welcoming. “I really want to try and change this†he sobs. “I think it’s ridiculous that you can be excluded from your own school for being gay. When I came out I knew I was going to have bullies and I knew people were not going to be okay with it. But i never expected it to be from the people who were supposed to protect you from the bullies… and then they themselves are the bullies.†-- This made me emotional. I wish he would have given names so that the people in charge would get the backlash that they deserve.
