She's still relatively unknown in most parts of the world. Her album only sold very well because the people that do know about her, are loyal and devoted. I've never heard her being talked about or listened to nearly as much as Rihanna or Sam Smith.

I never said she was a stadium filling pop star. But shes very well known in the markets that matter and that includes most European countries, America, and Australia. She is literally as well known as Rihanna in the U.S. shes just not filling up stadiums and getting plays on the radio ad-nauseum. Shes a modern version of a popular artist because her popularity derived from the internet.

Nah she is very popular and well known. She's not on the superstar level of a Rihanna or Bruno Mars, but she's pretty much on the next highest level below that. Already doing arenas this summer

And if you want to compare them lets: I don't care how long each had, in technical terms, Applause sold more in its first week than FourFive Seconds

And Born This Way and FourFive Seconds' released are actually pretty comparable. Both released were HIGHLY anticipated for, by both fans and the GP.

BTW came after one of the biggest era thare decade hype was huuge. Anything would smash if it was released instead btw. And Gaga is frontloaded artist anyway. This is caused by huge fanbase and small gp support. Rihanna never had frontloaded single, all of her singles peaked several weeks after release. Thats because she doesnt have such huge fanbase but a lot of support from gp.
