Why the sudden friendship with a country that is homophobic and breaches human rights? Is Russia funnelling money to Greece? I don't get this to be honest, pray tell me how Russia isn't to blame for inciting the unrest in Ukraine?

well Tsipras is declared comunist and other reason can be found in showing muscles to EU governments...this guy wont last long because Greeks will see that he can make their situation in long term only worse

Yeah, I get that the Greeks don't have much reason to love the EU but already in his first week their leader is basically turning his back on his European brethren to bump shoulders with Putin. :spin: I don't know who does he think he is but if he thinks he's got power over the rest of the EU he's mistaken. And yes, if this thing is anything to go by he won't last long. Shame, I would have liked a sane leader of an EU country who questions the EU without going out of his way to antagonise it. It seems childish.

we will see if he does similar thing on EU leaders summit in two weeks...he needs to find friends and allies in other EU PM not enemies, and with this he is already the "unpopular" guy in the club

They did it because the EU didn't get consent from every member state and acted on its own, not because they side with Russia.

Greece ha Rebel Heart

In all seriousness they said they won't veto the new sanctions so that's good (I hope it's true).

maybe Tsipras is just doing this with Russia so he could soften Eurozone creditors in exchange for his consent on the sanctions....ovrerall I am no impressed with his political actions by now...lack of wise experience  I may say

I don't think that would be smart, the EU is concerned but won't play games. He hasn't taken any political action yet though, words aren't actions.

Russia invaded Ukraine because of its gas ... Because usa started to sell arabic oil reserves they control for lot cheaper and Russia started to make less money from oil they used. Market rules, they had to get involved with competition, so they invaded ukraine for a different reserve to make more money...
