Whispering

At least it's her songs.

Three of them were written for movies she was in and one was from a duet in the 80s, so they are her original songs and then there are two new songs on the album.

The other 6 songs are "Traditional Pop" and that's how this album even qualified in this category. C2C is 100% from the American Songbook, but Partners is only 50%.

In other words, you don't get bonus points for having "your own songs" on an album in this category. This category is really about songs from a particular era in music. C2C is more in line with the era that this award honors.

Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album: Barbra Streisand’s Partners and the Tony Bennett/Lady Gaga tandem Cheek to Cheek are locked in a tight race. Bennett and Streisand have gone head-to-head five times in this category. Bennett has won every time. And this time he has Gaga along with him. That opposites-attract dynamic is usually surefire Grammy bait (see: Robert Plant and Alison Krauss). But Partners did much better than expected. And Streisand worked it, appearing on The Tonight Show and a Michael Bublé special. I think Streisand just may be headed for her first Grammy in 28 years. (That would be the Grammy equivalent to Meryl Streep winning her first Oscar in 29 years a few years ago.) Also nominated: Annie Lennox’s Nostalgia, Barry Manilow’s Night Songs, Johnny Mathis’ Sending You a Little Christmas.

The shade :lmao:

Gaga injecting a new voice into a category that usually has the the same expected group of performers might swing the vote to Tony and Gaga. We'll see.

Like they insulted Adele after winning against Gaga. I didn't even understand, Adele deserved that award as well.

Well...I don't know who exactly I'm defending with this statement, but, Gaga dancing with a dude covered in skeleton tattoos and giving birth to alien heads >>>>>>>>> Adele sitting in a chair singing one of the songs of our generation, with a samurai slashing at a room full of c-----e :emma:

Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us.

When nominations were announced I was convinced Barbra would win but a couple weeks ago I started thinking that grammy voters would be more likely to vote for Tony/Gaga just based off The demographics of the voters and tony and Gaga's reputation

Now I don't know what to think. Barbra has the sales (which shouldnt matter) which translate to a prominent thought in voters' minds but tony and gags have more acclaim (on paper). :duck:

Not the end of the world but I would be sad if gags doesn't win. This album is so special to her- I mean it's with a music legend!

Not his collab with Gaga possibly being the one that breaks his win streak :thetea:

This is only a tight race if the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences gives Grammys to reward artists for commercial success (which we know they do but they don't like to admit it).

Barbra's album isn't very good. At all. Whereas Cheek To Cheek was well done and actually impressive. Barbra may be a legend like Tony but her album was nothing that she and many others haven't already done.

If they lose to Barbra Ill understand but I feel TonyGaga has the slight upperhand because they're pairing is quite 'risky' for a popstar, not an obvious thing to do and very brave of both of them. Plus they gave jazz a whole new young audience.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
