Yet another British star has triumphed in the Oscar nominations for 2015, as singer Rita Ora has received a nod for Grateful, a track she recorded for the film Beyond the Lights. The song, which was written by Diane Warren, has been shortlisted in the Best Original Song category.

While the prize is given to the track's songwriters, nominees for the Original Song category often perform at the ceremony, so it is possible that Rita will also make an appearance at the show on 22 February.
The song faces competition from songs including Lost Stars, sung by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine for Begin Again, and the catchy Everything Is Awesome from The Lego Movie.

It's sad this Oscar goes only to the lyricists and the composers of the song and not the performers. Not that I care about Rita Ora but the Mariah & Whitney duet won that award in 1999

Edit: I just saw it being mentioned under the video. Oh well

It's not sad. It's the way it should be.

It's sad bc the Glitter poster would have included the line "Academy Award Winner Mariah Carey"

This :rip: And idk how they're spinning it into some kinda "nom" or achievement for her, only the writers get any recognition :smh:

She won't be credited or named if it wins, except maybe in Diane Warren's acceptance speech :emma:

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

Exactly it's pointed out in article, but she could perform it during the show and it would be already a lot for her since a lot of singers with a longer career haven't had this chance before :)
