Crescent Bloom 1,078
I think both albums have very deep meanings behind them, but if I had to choose right off the top of my head I would say TFM is much more deeper in the sense that she had a "Fear" message behind all the songs. Something like Dance In The Dark "Fear of Self" could be much more relatable than songs like Donatella, ARTPOP, Jewels N' Drugs, Applause, and Venus (which I love all these songs). I love both albums but TFM is the better album.
Pop 4,541
If you picked 8 best songs from ARTPOP, it would top TFM musically. However, the visuals and the concept was what made TFM such an artistic triumph. It was all interconnected and stunning, while ARTPOP visuals looked cheap and tacky. HauntingHollow 4,310
TFM is the best, it has all the things that ARTPOP wanted, its songs are masterpieces, all of them ! Can not say that about ARTPOP... You can not hide if nobody pays attention to you :*
Wet Fire 7,404
Personally, I think The Fame Monster is better overall. Let me explain, if I rate all the songs on each album of the two and then take the average, TFM will have a higher rate. ARTPOP has some songs that are more amazing than some TFM songs, like Do What U Want, Dope, Gypsy, Venus, G.U.Y. etc. But ARTPOP has some songs that aren't really impressive compared to TFM songs. Plus, the excessive use of autotune in some places where it's not even needed that much (MANiCURE) is not good. Still, I enjoy ARTPOP a lot, like really really a lot. But TFM is better, and unique. narcoswing 1,129
The Fame Monster is just not that deep. ARTPOP is really deep and has a great message and super-personal it's well produced and it's way more mature. and think about it! The Fame Monster's songs are just not THAT great I mean "Teeth" "So Happy I Could Die" "Dance In The Dark" are just not that great compared to "Mary Jane Holland" "Sexxx Dreams" or "Gypsy" You telling here that TFM isn't as deep and meaningful as ARTPOP with these songs as your example. Girl bye. A song about an insecure girl (DITD) or being an alcoholic (SHICD) are far more superior than songs about s-x dreams and weed.
Creyk 17,805
The Fame Monster is just not that deep. ARTPOP is really deep and has a great message and super-personal it's well produced and it's way more mature. You're wrong, because TFM is much better but whatevs Why did you write this part? ARTPOP did not have a message. It did not even have a meaning. "My ARTPOP could mean anything". That's not an explanation. Or maybe you see a message in there that no one else does? What about the personal songs? Other than "Dope" I don't see how any tracks would be more personal or mature. "Looking good and feeling fine". "I'm a rich b---h" "Slap honey on a young pancake" Those are some mature lyrics all right. It's fine to prefer one album to another but TFM is higher quality if you want to value music in terms of message, maturity and personal meaning. TFM has a clear message about her personal fears that are relatable to many people, while ARTPOP is not. Sorry but i just don't see how your post makes sense, other than "I like those songs more than these songs, just because"
GoldenNovember 429
Excuse me no, that's incredibly dumb. TFM is her best album because of her QUALITY, stop being delusional FFS MESS Your reaction is way blown out of proportion. Squeala just said that he thinks TFM is often praised because of its success, not the music itself. What's so bad about this statement? It's his opinion, something you have to deal with without making a fuss. Just because he thinks this way doesn't mean it's true for you, so why do you feel so attacked and intimidated? If you think otherwise, you should say it in a respectful and civilized manner, or else no one will take you serious. It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead. Radio Ga Ga 5,671
If ur talking about deepness, I think I'll go with BTW. But I like ARTPOP better for the reason that I like every single song on it (except for JnD), and I do agree with u that there're songs on TFM that are just mediocre (So happy I could die, teeth, monster). To this day, I have only been playing BTW (I take out some songs like Bad kids and fashion of his love) and ARTPOP on repeat as an album. I however really really like Bad Romance and Speechless, so I give TFM credit for that. So probably ARTPOP> BTW=TFM > TF
ANUSLOVER96 260
I'm not comparing eras I'm comparing music and only music. stop judging by success. and yes it DOES have a great message and more personal: it's Gaga's story: exposing who she really is "Aura" her s-xuality "Venus" "G.U.Y." "Sexxx Dreams" her love for her fans "ARTPOP" "Applause" "Gypsy" her pain from betrayals "SWINE" and of course her fashion which is a huge part of her "Donatella" "Fashion!" her long battle with d--gs.( d--gs can be fun "Mary Jane Holland" but they're not the answer "Dope" ) it's just so noble! djBuffoon 12,115
Well, I never thought I'd read that on this forum, but I agree. Aside from "Bad Romance" and "Speechless", TFM doesn't have anything truly extraordinary going for it. I would rank the albums reversed from the way they were released: 1. ARTPOP 2. Born This Way (a very close second) 3. The Fame Monster 4. The Fame (there are some days when 3 and 4 are switched)
