Can everyone give her a break... i honestly don't care for her or her music really, but it seems like everyone is attacking her. and her comments above are all true tbh. Everybody needs to move along and let eachother be. And apparently it is because she is a "white rapper." girl bye. Rap is not exclusive to Black culture.

Omg is she really comparing herself to Elvis and Eminem :air:

no, she's point out the fact that rock came from "black music"

I'm almost sure that there are more homophobic black people than racist gay people per capita based on my own experience, even though it isn't totally related.

Personally I feel that the fact black people are getting killed on the streets and are racially profiled is much more significant than a white hip hop/pop star appropriating a culture that most likely doesn't take her seriously enough to be truly offended by anything but her ignorance and, in their opinion, her lack of talent, not this supposed impact she's having on racism as a whole. People are going to hate Iggy no matter what, her talent shouldn't even be brought up in a conversation like this. For people who are getting oh so upset about Iggy detracting from Azealia's main point people sure like to talk about unrelated **** as an excuse to hate on Iggy even more.

What difference does Iggy acknowledging her white privilege make? People are still going to dislike her, they will find some way to pick apart any apology she makes as unacceptable for the sole purpose of continuing to fuel their hatred for her. That's most certainly what will happen, too, which is sad. People just aren't going to be mature about this no matter what.

Kanye West is an egotistical asshole and Eminem is a homophobic, mysogynistic rape culture promoting whatever-the-**** but nobody seems to care because their "talent" validates their opinions for some stupid reason. Whatever offensive thing they say or do is justified as art and they have oodles of respect simply because they are well liked for their music. Iggy is such an easy target.

Personally, I think Eminem threatening to rape Iggy is far more offensive than anything racist Iggy has ever said. You could only be hated for being black if you are black, but anyone of any race, gender or s-xuality can get raped. There's a lot more room for people getting offended by that especially when his fans can tend to be genuine supporters of his message. I don't like for one second when someone says that Eminem does nothing wrong because he doesn't actually rape people. Well, many of the straight 13 year old white boys who listen to him are growing up to have hatred for women or the belief that rape is something potentially acceptable in this society. Whenever I see a white, teenage asshole and they have their music library posted you can almost be sure you'll find Eminem or other rappers on that list. Male hip-hop can be bad news.

I digress, however.

finish them :tea:  :applause:

What double standards

Iggy, Eminem, and Macklemore are all white but handled their hiphop persona and artistry differently. What does homophobia in the black population have to do with anything, even?

Why would anyone care what you think is worse than Iggy's racism? That doesn't even invalidate the **** she does.

Can y'all read before mindlessly clapping for a post that avoids the topic completely?

I'm allowed to say what I want in a topic I deem to be moderately relevant to what I said and thus didn't want to waste time or common sense making an entirely new topic for! :sara:

TRILL MONSTER

Whether or not the majority of the black population is homophobic has literally nothing to do with the topic.

Apparently, Iggy is so racist because she is "exploiting" the hip hop culture that is for black people "only" and she's "priviledged", so it's very intelligent and equality advocate of you to attack her nowadays. Whereas the other girl who made fun of Mexican, Asian and Jewish people and mocked her whiteness by calling her "Igloo Australia" has been given a free pass because of her critically acclaimed album. Double standards isn't it? Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Electric Phire

I like Iggy. I don't think just because music started with African Americans that it is limited to them. She has an artistic right to do what she wants with her music and if the public bites then so be it. All these salty rappers need to back the f**k up and take a chill pill. You do you and she'll do herself.

You can't even spell privileged right, idk why I thought you'd say anything after that would make sense.

Why do you people form opinions on things without even knowing what's going on?

Supersonic

Well Macklemore at least personally apologized for getting the Grammy he thought Kendrick Lamar deserved much more, called the Academy "****ed up" and has at least a basic understanding on racial issues in the USA

Yeah because a wrong spelling from someone whose first language is not English is a big deal no?

I am aware of the issue but I don't feel the need to comment on it and try to be intelligent like some of you people against those who have a different opinion than yours. It's not worth it especially when I know that in this forum with deluded fans, you'll sound like an ignorant just because you disagree with these "intelligent" people here.

I made the comment because I know there are still some stans here who think Iggy is racist but gives a free pass on their fave.

And dont bother to quote me because I got no time to argue with people who thinks their logic is above anyone else regarding this issue. ;)

You don't even know the foundation of the the controversy. Literally no one said that hiphop was a genre only for black people and no one is excusing Azealia's actual racism (Everything other than making fun of Iggy's whiteness).

I'm not disagreeing with your comment because it's different, it's because it's baseless. Racism isn't an intellectual issue, it's an issue that involves everyone in the western world, so I don't know why you would think it's not worth contributing to the discussion.

My comments don't use some foreign strand of logic. All you did was use baseless claims to set up an opinion. It's wrong, that's it.
