Ayo 300
The nations in the Middle East need to be the ones with boots on the ground. If they want to rid their country and the countries surrounding them of these radical groups, they need to condemn them publicly, stop supplying them with money, and send their military to seek out and destroy these groups. You can't nuke them, as it is not a nation or country that could be targeted, but groups scattered all across several countries and regions. The only people who are actively fighting them seem to be the midddle eastern muslim countries (eg jordan)

Ayo 300
They will need to continue for years, because that is what it is going to take. I really fail to understand why is this taking so long, I mean ISIS has united almost all of the world's superpowers against them, why cant they be defeated easily?? Woolfsmck 2,763
ISIS is managing to antagonize more nations and people against them each time they kill a hostage. Even Muslim fundamentalists are opposed to their tactics and Iraq's and Iran's Shiite are their enemies as well. How easy would it be to form a coalition to rid the world of these radical thugs?Doesn't seem like they have rational leaders at all. Their goals are out of reach, the allies they would need turn away from them. Something is out of place to me in this whole mess.I don't understand why America, NATO or any other military force don't do something about this. It's not like they are huge and can't be destroyed, just nuke them and bye...Nukes kill everything , not just the bad guys. Plus, the fall out that reaches the upper air stream spreads radioactive comtamination all over the planet. Really , nukes are a last ditch method and won't win any war. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. Have we stooped so low as to give them recognition? # of pages unfortunately tells me yes …
Shadow 6,697
Ok I don't get it.. Why are we making a thread for them? This is like praising what they are doing! literally I mean come on.. as if they don't try to be on our minds?? Pay them dust please :Madge: We are not praising them by any means. I prefer to keep potential threats on my mind and not ignore them until they arrive at my doorstep. It's better to stay ahead of things than fall behind and get surprised by danger. Also, talking about issues like this and knowing where people stand gives way to understanding. When people are understood, there is little to no reason for conflict among them. Granted, it may be difficult to reason with irrational militants. However, at the end of the day, we're all people. There is always hope to reason when all a person's needs are met and people are free to think for themselves. Stand in the light, cast your shadow. Pandemiya 61
I get sick reading this thread. The UAE bailed out of airstrikes against them, and Jordan isn't going down so easily. Whatever is the outcome, more people will just die. Such a shame that the world is like this.

From the article you posted:president will seek a formal authorization to fight the Islamic State that would prohibit the use of “enduring offensive ground forces†and limit engagement to three years. How the military prohibits "enduring" ground forces and if ISIS can be taken care of in three years remains unknown. They could keep Islamic State from taking ground and give Iraq back its authority over its region, but this is a multiple nation problem in Mesopotamia. Even if they root out ISIS from Iraq, they will still have a haven in Syria. The U.S. will need to work with the international community, especially those in the region. It will be tricky to form that kind of alliance given the past history there. However, if nations do work with the U.S. to fight this group, it could improve relations over time, but that will be very hard due to huge distrust of the U.S. Stand in the light, cast your shadow.
