Hexxx 2,244
I'm pretty sure its bc Iggy raps/acts like a black woman. And most recently bc her watered down commercialized rap received more grammy noms than authentic rap. This why won't they understand Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko
mucinex 4,260
“She’s doing something I don’t think many females have successfully done, which is put rap music in a pop arena." “She’s doing something I don’t think many females have successfully done, which is put pop music in a rap arena." fixed azealia's point is way better

Rat Boy 43,471
Please don't put Iggy on the same level as Madonna and MJ. I disagree with her comments regarding Nicki. The fact that Nicki raps and sings on most of her memorable hits shows her versatility, talent and skill as an artist. She seems like she is just blurting out words without thinking. Her comments are rather vague and more than often do not make sense. The reference to Bowie was warped and confusing. She was like "here this is what I think but who gives as ****. I also think this but who gives a ****." "****ing rat" - @Dynamite
Paper Gangsta 6,693
I can't at these people acting like rap is the most sacred and artistic thing ever and that what Iggy is doing is blasphemy towards it
Rat Boy 43,471
I can't at these people acting like rap is the most sacred and artistic thing ever and that what Iggy is doing is blasphemy towards it The issue I have is that people are labeling Iggy as a straight up hip-hop artist when she is clearly heavily influenced by pop. Also many people believe that Iggy's music is just manufactured for the masses and does not meet the criteria for classic hip-hop which upsets the hip-hop community. In my eyes she is more of a pop star than anything else. "****ing rat" - @Dynamite

Bordeciel 323
It depends what you mean by POP ICON but Iggy sure is one of those in a way. She is as a rapper than she is a pop artist: her THREE first singles problem*, fancy & black widow were 1's on pop radio, she was the first to do so since GAGA. Her public is mainly pop, she has not that much of rap fans and the way she sells albums proves it, she's a pop icon cause the public has decided of it & I hate seeing a lot of you acting like "pop icon watttt?" no she's not Madonna or Gaga but she has a sure great place in the pop public since one year. *Yes it's her single too in the rules of bilboard and her verse is really famous in the song & known by pop public.
