LibraLove 1,281
I wish religion would just disappear honestly. This. The world would be in a much better, more peaceful, scientifically advanced state if they all just disappeared. It's probably one of, if not the largest decisively dividing factors of the human race aside from skin color and language.

LibraLove 1,281
I wouldn't say religion at all to be honest. I just would say culture. Not exactly. Cultures don't but heads like religions do, unless they are religiously fueled cultures, like that of Iran and Israel. Take those two nations for example. They both hate and despise each other with threats of nuclear war being bounced around basically all because of their differing religious ideologies. Take the two differing religions away from those countries and they would more then likely not be at each other's throats like they are.

None of them was religion-based. Religion is one of the main factors in influencing the most negative aspects of any culture. Nah. I'd rather say hate. (which ofc some religions do, but look at Soviet Union for example)

(which ofc some religions do, but look at Soviet Union for example) C'mon, WW2 basically spawned from Adolf's disdain for the Jews which he believed was the reason for Germany's loss in WW1 which led to the subsequent mass genocide of seven million innocent Jews. If that doesn't seem based in misguided aspects of religion, then I don't know what is. Four to five centuries of humanities existence, 1000 AD to around 1500 AD saw some of the most violent and bloody religiously motivated wars ever; The Crusades. Also not to mention all the persecutions in many centuries by the Roman Catholic Church and the Spanish Inquisition. Religion has a very dark side that can and should not be overlooked. WW2 was everything except for religion. WW2 happened for a lot reason and Jews just were the ones who needed to suffer (as well as Communists, Gypsies and Gays or people who criticized Hitler) Hitler saw himself as a God , at every marriage they gave out "Mein Kampf" instead of the Bible. And I agree that the Churches never were saints ( pun intended). And yes they had a dark side ,but you can't deny that there are also light sides of religion and religious people. To say that all religious people are evil is just dumb. (yes you didn't said that) They absolutely were. What do you think forms a person's psyche? Beliefs. Religion being the foremost influence, especially back then. The world wars were undoubtedly conflicts that had deep roots in religion. No ,both were political ad geographical wars. Religion was only a tiny factor. (not even sure if it was a factor at all)

Melech 9,900
The political climate was inseparably intertwined with religion. That's not true. I mean in the first World War Christians fought each other even with the same religion. And not to forget that German empire was ally with the Muslim Ottoman empire. Religion didn't play a big role there. The political climate was intertwined with nationalism. You kind of just basically proved my point by your last sentence in response to me. what point? Gagaloo911 12,959
Take a seat, please. I only stated facts plus I'm not even that religious anymore. Of course gays and Atheists are more discriminated, but this here is about religious discrimination. :excuseme: :madge:
LittIe Monster 275
Overall religion drives people into buildings and science drives people to the moon.
Luiz 4,253
Overall religion drives people into buildings and science drives people to the moon. probably also drove those atomic bombs to japan as well right? edit: why am i trying to defend religion? the **** never works out. I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.
teo 609
Oh please. This is so misleading. Of course they're discriminated against in those countries, Christians are a MINORITY in those places. It comes with the territory of being a minority. Just how atheists are discriminated against everywhere. Since they're in the minority EVERYWHERE. As well as the gays. You're making it sound like it's ok to be discriminated just because you're a minority
