Koreku 2,387
'Our culture'... Will.i.am is not part of hip hop. He is black though so if that's what he means then cool I guess. I don't really think he's educated or versed enough in the issue to comment. He's probably just supporting her because she's successful. he's made some rap before. You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.
Dangerous Man 9,245
i still dont get the point here.... just because whites have the more privilege, we blame a single white person? its blaming some random dog on the street just because your dog pooped on your couch. the person to blame here is who gave her the privilege. i also dont get why whites cant sing rap music? does that mean black cant sing white music? im just inferring from some of the posts here using it as arguments. This post is 101% accurate. :tea: "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body."
SexXDreams 184
I remember when Eminem’s album “The Marshall Mathers LP†came out. He was called homophobic, misogynistic, and battling past comments he made about a girlfriend he had, who happened to be black, in the past. He did various things to atone for his mistakes, the most memorable was his performance with Elton John. After all of the smoke cleared, “The Marshall Mathers LP†was deemed a classic. I was not, am not, and never will be an Eminem fan but I actually spent some time with that album and it is, indeed, a rap classic. Eminem has battled the same criticism that Iggy is battling now but the difference is he is so much more incredibly talented than her. Eminem, as a wordsmith, is more talented than a lot of rappers, regardless of color. She has recently been deemed the best in hip hop. If her work matched that claim, she would not be criticized to the same degree. Her fans keep, lazily, trying to make this about race because they can’t boast of her skill level. It is an argument they know they can’t win.
craig 680
will.i.am â€@iamwill 1h1 hour ago I've talked about how f'd up the USA prison system is for blacks & people respond to my comment about @IGGYAZALEA more passionately #wow This is the problem with your typical SJW - they care more about crap like cultural appropriation or somebody making bad joke, than they do about real stuff like criminal justice policy or raising the minimum wage. superman 32
This is the problem with your typical SJW - they care more about crap like cultural appropriation or somebody making bad joke, than they do about real stuff like criminal justice policy or raising the minimum wage. the problem is that artists like azealia or nicki dont care about any of the stuff that they even talk about because all they do is try to build a career after they flopped. you only see them talking about music things that will get them some headlines instead of these really serious issues. Yanko 9,860
This is going to end well... I purposely didn't make a thread for the support AB received as it's a problem BIGGER than what most people here can begin to comprehend and goes far beyond AB v IA but if we're really going to drag this on and on then let's get some more threads going. . Don't even bother, reasoning is hard. It's much easier to just scream "pressed" and go on and on about Iggy's chart success This. I don't get why it's so hard for people to realize the point Azealia was trying to make goes far beyond stan wars but fancy was #1 And don't forget when Iggy played spokesperson of black culture when she declared that Miley stole twerking from her after Iggy herself declared the 'trend' was over I can't what

Prometheus 1,494
People like you make me sick, quite frankly. I'll make this situation a little easier to understand for my fellow GGD users (a lot of whom seem very sheltered and detached from this issue). Imagine (and for some of you this may be reality) that you are bullied, or are depressed, or just have really negative **** going on outside of your time spent on GGD. You have a bad time at home with family, you are bullied at school/work, you have a lot of stress going on, money troubles, and you can't use social media. Your only escape is this website. Imagine then, that your bullies, parents, etc, find your GGD account. They either force you to stop visiting or they join themselves - the latter is more relevant. Those that have looked down on you all their lives (in your eyes) are suddenly invading the final place you had to express yourself, and be yourself, around like minded people. Imagine how trapped you'd feel. How hopeless you'd feel. And this is going on while Gaga fans are being murdered by Katy fans outside of this. You have no where to express yourself. All your traditions are ruined and gone. That's how black people are feeling right now. Well... We are kind of generalizing here. I know a lot of white people who enjoy hip-hop and rap, and not just the pop **** (myself included). The only good thing Iggy has going in her music is her pop hooks. That's why she is popular. And you know, she might also be more popular because she is white, and a white audience may be able to relate better. I would like to remind you of Macklemore. He was ripped to pieces because he is white and makes hip-hop music. Because he was white he was not supposed to make hip-hop/rap music, genres he was pulled to and adores, and quite frankly he is good at. Macklemore is himself and he makes honest records, yet he was shamed because a white guy was encroaching on a "black thing." I know white people have taken genres over from other cultures (such as jazz from black people) and claimed it as their own. It seems like people only throw a fuss at white people being in hip-hop/rap when they become successful. I can only name three very famous white rappers: Macklemore, Iggy Azalea, and Eminem. Three white artists out of how many black ones? Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Juicy J, Twista, Two Chains, Angel Haze, Azealia Banks, etc. I dislike Iggy for using a faux accent. However, I find it extremely awful that the black community is freaking out and screaming "THIS IS OURS" when it is music. Macklemore preaches acceptance and hard work. Angel Haze spits lines about suicide and growth. Why do we give a **** what race these people are when the TRUE meaning of rap and hip-hop is being kept alive? Original rap and hip-hop talked about struggle, perseverance, and heartache. When those inspiring words are continued on, does it really matter what color of mouth they come from, especially when 90% of hip-hop/rap artists are black? Again, Iggy is, in my opinion, talentless and ignorant. However, I want to talk about the larger picture where people are preaching about excluding white people from hip-hop and rap due to their skin color. craig 680
AZEALIA BANKS â€@AZEALIABANKS Dec 20 reverse racism: is the next layer of racism where whites try to chatise black people or any cultural group for speaking out against racism. AZEALIA BANKS â€@AZEALIABANKS Dec 20 @RyanReeeves racism against white people doesn't exist. White people invented racism... There is no such thing as "reverse racism" Saying that only the other can be racist, but not one's own group, is deeply racist. Most people would agree. If a white beats or kills a person because of their race, that's a racist hate crime. If a black does it, it's equally a racist hate crime. If racism has any useful meaning, it's a set of things that it's wrong for ANYONE to do. No special exceptions for one's own group, no double standards, no "I can hate on you all I like and it's okay" because you're privileged. Go read Kant and learn some basic ethical theory. Whites invented racism? As if humans weren't disliking outsiders who looked different or were culturally different since before whites and blacks interacted. When Ms. Banks tweets anti-semitic comments is she putting theory into practice: "Hey I'm black, I can say anything and it's fine, because I can never be racist." Wonder if she admits blacks can be homophobic to whites? Or maybe only white straights can be homophobic to black gays?

Bye 3,947
I think AB just hates Iggy and has brought up all the racial issues to make a nice foundation for her hate.
