Vernier 3,786
I just see a pressed person about someone being more successful that her. Since your brought it up. Reading comprehension and a bit of common sense says she was referring to people who can neither sing or write their own music. Who's more successful than her that she's pressed at who can neither sing or write their own songs? Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn
Girrr 1,086
Is this interview recent? Hopefully it's back when she said the same thing months ago. I hope she's done with talking about other artists. I mean, she has a point. However, it gets old hearing about the same complaint. The industry isn't changing anytime soon, so Gaga might as well work her ass off and hope for the best.
Noel Kahn 2
yup only Ariana can sing Well if I wrote that the other three can sing too, people will probably jump at me and try to make the whole post invalid Although yes their singing abilities are average. djBuffoon 12,125
he was an amazing interpreter with out of this world style and charisma...she's talking about mediocre people who can't live without autotune and know nothing about music. your statement is a bit off. Pavarotti did not write his music but his ability and interpretation made him a legend and he sang the same thing thousand of people are singing around the world but he was one of the few that have shone. Precisely. Elvis was a fantastic, natural talent. I mean... I like Britney Spears, she's cute as Jem and the hologram or a Barbie could be... but It is stupid to deny that, except for her talent as a dancer in the first part of her career, she does not sing (I don't say she can't, I simply say she never does it... Her concert are 100% playback, or 95% or whatever), she does not write anything she sings (yeah, she wrote three lyrics in some albums of her, thank you very much), she is not AT ALL in control of her public persona, she has never been and now even less than before. She is a product, as Coca-cola, and she is sold that way... Funny and very good to listen to (I have alla her album at home myself) but when I think about people like Elton John, Ella Fitzgerald, Lisa Minnelli or... Christina Aguilera... I am not a fan of her either but...technically speaking it's really not the same thing. So much tea.

Psychedelic 1,098
You are right Gaga and most people know that, that's precisely why this is UNNECESSARY imo. When you speak about it, it comes off as pretentious or pressed. I'm not saying you are, but it comes off that way. Do you remember that girl from "The Fame" who would never act conceited about her talents or preach about art and being artsy? She would sing about superficial and shallow stuff yet whenever she sat on a piano and started singing, everyone would be blown away by her skills and talent, do you remeber her? Do you remember when GP used to buy your albums and support your music? When I do the math, my equation's result is that people actually like talented artist but they HATE even the slightest sign of pretentiousness! I know you might be frustrated for ARTPOP's underperformance and feel the need to express yourslef. But better start doing it with actions only (C2C for instance, excellent move), and leave the talking to the talkers, for your own good and no one else's! Emvee 8,482
Lies? I see none. To elaborate I like how she has emphasized how she does have respect for the talented vocalist even if they don't write music, she just has disdain for a society that promotes beautiful people who can't sing or write. Amen to that. :applause:
darkwolf 590
when did stating your own opinion become a sign of pretentiousness? I kind of agree with what she said. But it does come off a little pretentious indeed; "If you’re not gonna write your own music,†she tells me, “you better be able to blow." it sounds like she wants to dictate her own rules: people are free to like whatever they want, real artists or manufactured products. And for gaga who is very known for her outfits and fashion.....well I'm not veyr sure she creates her clothes too
