The problem already coming from this is that since the shooter was black, people are going to instantly link this to the Brown and Garner shootings.  Thus trying to prove there point that those deaths were justified.  If this man was white, people would just consider him 'mentally ill'.  Generally speaking.

Nobody in this thread said that the deaths of Brown and Garner were justified. Clearly the shooter was mentally ill since he shot two people without it being self-defense.

 

The quote "they took 1 of ours... let's take 2 of theirs" makes this not a random act of violence, but a hate crime.

If he was white and hated cops they'd talk about his motivations too.

Judging by the names, he killed an Asian and a Hispanic cop. Plus his ex-girlfriend and himself.

 

Some are saying those who fanned anti-cop hate have blood on their hands.

Readily available guns in a country that is already volatile coupled with people who feel they have nothing to lose but yet take from others is a recipe for tragedy.   Some people are already on the edge of their mental capacities with little to no resources, although in honesty, some of these people decline help.  However, this world has given them many reasons to be even more unstable lately.  It's taking a toll on all of us.  I'm not trying to make excuses; just trying to find reasons.  :(

Of course and I completly agree. IS is has also a lot western people in it, because our society didn't accept them. Those people find hope in violence and don't value their or the lives of others that much.

I never did.  The fact is that certain people will use this as an excuse of why we need police rather than reforming how cops handle profiling and stopping suspects.

People wouldn't consider him "mentally ill" just because he was white. Maybe this guy was mentally ill, who knows. No matter what Tumblr says, most people aren't going to sympathize with someone who shot his girlfriend and then two cops just because their skin is the same colour...

I never said there wasn't intention of killing the cops.  I'm simply stating that SOME people are going to take this the wrong way and use this murder as justification for whatever dumb reason they come up with. And what does Tumblr have to do with this?

He could have used an axe on these officers. An axe was used in Britain last year. An officer was hacked to pieces in the street with people standing around watching. If that officer had a gun he might have had a chance to save his own life.

Why is this? I mean these numbers are alarming. Is it truely because cops are killing innocents in streets or does it all stem from gang violence and crimminal activity?

Of these, 77 percent (3,824 victims) were killed with handguns. I've not heard one protest about the gangs, only cops cops cops are the bad guys. Let's see who you call in your time of need or if you're being attacked by an intruder.

I am sad for any loss of life. I hope Al Sharpton and his gang come up with some real solutions rather than initiating protests that won't get them anywhere! I mean Police aren't there to just protect us, they want to go home at the end of their shift just like anyone else.
