Again, great points masked by iggy hate and other useless stuff that trivialize her argument

I feel like Azealia's intent would be so much easier to explain and defend if she stopped sideblazing the convo to iggy

She didn't bring up Iggy, the hosts did.

I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.

So a white man becoming a legendary artist in a particular genre is racist and taking away from black people? Seems like it perpetuates a white / black divide if you can only make music based on ur skin color. Y'all don't realize how racist she is with this argument.

Let's go back to that time where black and white were segregated and black people were seen as trash and black music was seen as trash. Then comes a white man and does the exact same music and everyone loves it and he becomes known as the creator of that kind of music. Isnt it ****ed up?

Well of course they would bring it up the way she was coming for iggy on twitter

She was expecting it anyway, look at her go with the iggy talk again once iggy was mentioned

But she IS racist

"CATTY NOIR â€@AZEALIABANKS 3 nov 2010

Omg cannot trust ANY AND ALL JEWS. All the jews in my life have just been showing their butts this week."

Her own flaws don't invalidate her experiences as a black American.  I actually didn't make any comment on whether or not she was a good person, I'm just saying she's had a very difficult life and clearly has a lot of pain associated with the position of her race in our society.

I just realised that it's funny how Azealia accuses Iggy of race appropriation and refusing to talk about the issues affecting blacks...when she sings in Spanish on her album, a language of which she is not a native speaker, nor does she talk about issues affecting Hispanics. So, I gather that Azealia thinks it's one rule for her, one rule for everyone else, especially non-blacks. Music is for everyone and no one should be stopped from doing a certain kind of music because it's not historically common within their race to do so. It is the mixing of races and ethnicities in music that have created so many amazing songs and collaborations. I have never seen a community that is so protective of their "heritage" music more than the black community. Everyone else just seems to live and let live, thinking that it's great when people from other races and cultures put their music on a world stage, opening up the door for their native artists to be noticed too. I don't consider whites experimenting with urban music to be "stealing" it. Music can't be stolen, it was nobody's property to begin with. "Blacks were once/still are oppressed" is irrelevant to the discussion of white people singing black music.

I'm sick of white people being constantly painted as ignorant in any situation where racial issues come up. Presumed that they couldn't possibly understand because they're not from a certain community. Presumed that they can't understand because they've never endured oppression. Even that we should withstand racial criticism because it's not like we've already endured years of it like blacks have. I've even seen fellow whites claiming the same thing. And black people are treated different worldwide - Americans tend to assume blacks are treated the same everywhere. And not everyone has such a stick about their a** concerning race as Americans do. I think it's going to be a long time, if ever, that Americans decide to chill on the whole race debate and just move on like the rest of the world has.

I am latino and I love when people from other countries use latin rythms in their songs or even latin costumes

I've personally loved everytime Madonna has used latin influences in her songs and clothes, la isla bonita, spanish lesson, spanish eyes, the zillions of times she has used latin clothes in her tours, I love it and I am here for it, it's like a compliment that she seems to appreciate our culture that much :flutter:

so Azealia and the rest who take cultural appropriation that seriously can either take several seats or just **** off :tea:

My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

I disagree and think that comparison is extremely dangerous. Azealia singing in Spanish is NOT the same as Iggy literally ripping off black culture, talking "ghetto" and basically basing her entire character off of a marginalized group. (Also, Banks is from New York and grew up with Dominican culture surrounding her....Iggy is from Australia....) You are correct in that music should be for everyone but when the Grammy's are being given to Macklemore and Iggy when there are OBVIOUSLY better albums being released by black artists, something is not right

Judas Oyster

This is really good.

I understand her, she earned some respect points from me! But she should try to word it out a little better for the 70% of the remaining population to understand it better. And I agree with the main interviewer that she should try to put that theme of conversation in her music. Her music is good, but this could be a good topic in next songs.
