She literally does explain a lot regarding the music/media and how it does apply to Iggy. You do actually need to watch the whole thing to get a grasp on what she's talking about.

Probably not in Iggy's case. But yes, I've read detailed accounts of white leftists and liberals who who feel ashamed and guilty of their own race. It's popular to portray whites are the bad guys in certain circles.

Yeah that's exactly it, it makes a genre that's closely connected to their culture look like a trend that iggys hopping on. Her "rap" is so commercialized and tailored for pop radio that it's not even rap anymore. Yet it gets called rap song of the year and she's called the next new big name in rap.

I think Fancy incorporates rap, but is not Hip-Hop and does not represent Hip-Hop culture if that makes sense. Just like Macklemore's album incorporates rap, but does not represent Hip-Hop culture.

It shows that the "white society is all racist" a--lysis is simplistic and one-dimensional.

 

When black kids growing up idolizing everything white, they are thought to have internalized racism. But now whites kids are doing the same with black culture and sometimes Asian culture.

 

Either some whites are self-hating, or some people just prefer to choose another culture than they are born to. Why not let them be. It reminds me of the debate within feminism over trans women.

Having a mentor and a boyfriend who are black suggest more than fetishization.

 

I never said everyone is equal. I'm saying racism in America co-exists with the idea that black culture is cool and with white guilt among some progressives. I'm trying to bring in complexity, other dimensions. The American vs foreiger side of things too.

 

History isn't just pre-1960's, it's also the last 50 years where liberals have largely been controlling the narrative about race.
