J. Cole shades low-selling artists after #1 debut, says "stop serving trash"

What a humble brag, lol.

However, I do agree with the point he's trying to make about not jumping through the usual industry hoops to successfully sell an album (strategically collaborating with someone 'hot' so they'll play you on the radio, working with the usual suspects, or deliberately making a ~wild and shocking~ MV for a cheap hit with no heart or artistic intent whatsoever.

Whatever you may think of his album, he made something that genuinely connected with people and word got around and turned it into one of the biggest debuts of the year. It's good to see people like that succeed.

J. Cole has built a loyal fanbase, as shown by the great debuts. This is his 3rd consecutive #1 since his debut, which in itself alone is a massive feat. He's not, however, a massively successful hip-hop artist comparable to Eminem, Jay Z, and even Drake. Hence, I find it not surprising to see he's not that known yet. It's seriously understandable. I've heard his music and he's good, but the guy has yet to score a platinum album or a chart-topping single, not only on the main charts but also even on his own home format. If this album would finally propel him into the apex of the mainstream, then good for him.

it's wasnt meaningless when gaga got those 70's for her every album untilll ARTPOP :air:

the homophobic comments......

A 70 is a C. Gaga deserved 100's :hor:

No but actually it was still meaningless and always has been. Converting stars into a 100 point scale has never worked either.

That last part wasn't directed at me right...?

He proclaims his album selling well is a win for artists then bashes other artists who make music that he deems not as good as his.  Seems very contradictory....
