This may seem excessive, but we have a long time to just sit here and converse and wait for new music, so.

But, I had a thought that that dedication back then could have been about Amy Winehouse. He seemed infatuated by her and I guess that he would have already had known Kat Von D through BAM and his gang of sorts, so Kat wouldn't be a new player. Amy Winehouse was very popular right then, new and on everyone's lips.

This comment describes it from the concert:

"This one's dedicated to uhm... We played another festival a week ago here in Switzerland and uhm... We had a blast and I happened to come across the prettiest lady I've seen in years and that left me speechless, I don't know... She's probably not here tonight but uhm... She probably, she's gotta know she's the prettiest thing that walks the Earth. And I've been thinking about her for most of the week in my filthy little mind and uhm... Let's say it has helped me out a lot... to overcome my severe case of depression so this one's for you, babe."

He mentioned her again before playing The Funeral Of Hearts:

"This one's dedicated once again to the lovely lady. I'm not sure whether she even saw me a week ago but that's how miraculous she was, she walked into a room and I started glowing and feeling all giddy inside, so that's good. Wish it could happen a bit more often."

I just saw this performance:

Scorpion's - Still Loving You:wub:

Also, why do You all guess that Dark Light was the big deal in North America? Was it just timing? Hot Topic and BAM and his group, Kat included? Mtv range of music and videos then, it was still more rock saturated until Beyonce, Rihanna and Lady Gaga hit big and Amy Winehouse was a major player as well with changing things here.

Just wondering. I think they have much better work than Dark Light, but I know that if you mention them here, that album and time period is directly sighted as being who HIM are to everyone here.

Those comments you quoted are from Lumnezia concert in 2008, when he was hit by a bottle or can to his face.

This FOH video is from 2010...so idk.

Nice Scorpions reference! In the beginning he sings something in Finnish.

DL was just good timing, Bam and big label.

I forgot this interview, so funny how he sings along😂

Yeah, while the band plays Scorpions, Ville sings after that a small part from "Viidestoista yö" by Juice Leskinen, a very popular song in Finland :hor:

Yes. I looked up the words to that Finnish song: Juice Fifteenth Night

Eyes gaze orphan child lost in
Rakkautesi jäljet vihloo rintaa Your love is aching traces of resistance
Käy pimeys päälle lailla pommikonelaivueen Visit the darkness on the Law of bombers fly overhead
Ja minä kun en koskaan kysy hintaa. And I never ask price.

Viidestoista yö taas saapuu painajaisineen Fifteenth night and again enters into a nightmare
Ja kaikki, paitsi elämä, on turhaa And all, except in life is pointless
Aina oikein uskoa ei jaksa ihmiseen Always correct to believe too lazy to humans
Kun ihmiskunta tekee itsemurhaa. When mankind will commit suicide.

(kerto) (Multiplication)
Sun kanssas katson maailmaa Sun will be with my view of the world
Ja samaa unta nään And the other in the same dream
Kuin hullu huudan rakkauteni perään! Like crazy cry after love!
Sun kainaloosi käperryn Sun curling up under the arm
Ja jos sallit yöksi jään And if you allow for the night of ice
Ja kun aamu on, en tiedä missä herään. And when the morning is, I do not know where I wake up.

Käy tuuli läpi pääni, etelästä pohjoiseen Visit the wind through my head, from south to north
Oon yksin ajatusten raunioilla I Am alone in the ruins of ideas
Ikuisesti kolisevat sanat tyhjyyteen Forever rattling the words into nothingness
On jälleen tuskan viitta hartioilla. It is the pain of re-robe shoulders.

kerto multiplying

Viidestoista yö, se saapuu aina uudelleen Fifteenth night, it always arrives again
Taas huomaan kahden viikon unohtuneen Again, I notice two weeks forgotten
Jäi iholleni hiekkaa rannan autioituneen Stayed skin, sand deserted beach
Voi olla että vihdoin pääsen uneen. It may be that finally I get to sleep.

kerto x 2 multiplying x 2

This song is from the album "Viidestoista yö (Tauko III)", "Kuopio - Iisalmi - Nivala (Live)" and "Klassikoiden ilta (live)". This song is from the album "The fifteenth night (Pause III)", "Kuopio - Iisalmi - Nivala (Live)" and "classics evening (live)".

@YourSweet666 I know that I didn't quote from THAT performance of FOH that I posted. I just found that one and liked it and posted it. I hadn't seen this one before.:toofunny:

Idk why I didn't pay attention, he talks about Sandra here

"Int.: What's your relationship to traditional Christmas carols, do you have a favorite? VV: Umm, well my better half (i.e. girlfriend) has been listening a lot of classic Christmas carols sung by children for a couple of weeks now, and i'm really starting to get fed up with them.

...

Int.: Lastly for even MORE important things: you mentioned your "better half". So that means you are in a relationship? VV: I've been in a relationship for a long time now, it's not a big secret or anything. I haven't counted days, she has. A couple of years, pretty soon. It's a rather long time, many fights have been fought, haha.Int.: Is she "The One"? VV: Let's just say, that she's definitely not "The Wrong One". Int.: Do you have a summer wedding planned? VV: Hahaha. I should probably be baptised before that. I'm not a big fan of weddings, I doubt i'm too much inclined for stress to do that. All the food, clothes, invitations... I've watched closely while some of my friends have been dealing with that, and i'd probably be so edgy that i'd jump off the roof of my tower. And that wouldn't be beneficial for anyone. Int.: It would not, indeed. Thank you, Ville Valo! VV: My pleasure!"

"I haven't counted days, she has." :green:

Well guess she was the wrong one in the end.

Yeah, his obsession with Amy...:air: I have listened an interview where he said that he even knows all the pubs she hangs out in London and thus feels a bit stalkerish. lol He has mentioned her in several interviews.

I posted that 2008. performance a while ago and said that I am jealous of the girl he's referring to. lol So you @Sister think that girl is Amy?

I think all of that combined. They had an excellent promo for that album there, that might be the main reason.

Also, about the new album, to me, every album is a bit of a different direction and so I can imagine what Ville has said about exploring new things and a new direction, but I can't imagine just what that might entail as of now and taking the last three albums into consideration. The last three are especially different.

What are your thoughts and or wishes? I do believe in what Ville has said and that we are in a long waiting period before new music in the Autumn of 2017.

I wish that new album sounds very heavy, dark, with lots of Ville's deep singing, well kinda like the first album.

I can't think of the new direction they might step into and tbh I don't want them to experiment a lot, I would like them to play safe this time and to be less poppy and more heavy, as I've said. Less acoustic guitars. :D

@PennyroyalTea You are such a sweetheart, thank you so much for the translation!

@poison girl I just wonder about how Americans liked HIM for a second with that album and they seem like they never really looked into the band's full discography and liked other albums. Like they treated them as a flash in the pan or a sudden trend, with BAM, Kat and Hot Topic. Here, the heartagram is known for Hot Topic, Kat and Bam and his show, it's ridiculous. Why didn't they check out Venus Doom? I just wonder. It's obvious that that happens though, even on this site, Gaga isn't doing anything if she isn't on the charts. It's a pathetic way of thinking. Why wouldn't anyone, once you find a new band or album that you like, check out their other work? People actually only like music that carries "the hits", the songs of the moment, that everyone likes, "at the moment". I know that is how it is, but it's such nonsense.

I guess I just can't believe that Americans like Dark Light, but then never even gave Venus Doom one chance, didn't listen to older albums, they are only known here for that one album and a few videos and Kat, Bam and Hot Topic.:air:

That's true, but then Venus Doom was #12 on the charts, it was a lot heavier and less radio friendly.

Dark Light opened up the door for them to have decent following in the states so they can still tour there after all these years even without big hits.

Maybe after rehab Ville didn't bother so much with the promo as he did before.

@Sister I think that the problem with the audiences across the globe is that they will listen/eat what is set before them. It's the easiest way. And specially in America where the market is the biggest with a gazillion different artists, people just don't get to stick to one artist long enough, cause they are being bombed with a thousand others. American market is the hardest one to conquer specially for the European artists. But luckily there are always the ones who will like the band enough to explore more and listen to their other stuff.

Very true, most people seem to only be willing to listen to and buy whatever is mostly promoted on the radio and radio here surely sucks. lol.

I can imagine getting a heartagram tattoo and having to constantly hear from strangers, "Oh, I used to watch Kat's tv show all the time when it was on tv or Bam's show". lol. That would get on my nerves so badly, I can hear it already. Or they'd say, "I shopped at Hot Topic when it was popular".:grr::toofunny::air:

so American:hor:
