ЕМ: The idea to shoot the video, did it appear with the decision to record a song or you decided it later according to the single popularity?

MGT: Ville Valo suggested we try and shoot a video once we had the song recorded and mixed by Tim Palmer in September 2015, I think Ville realized it had tremendous potential. So once label SPV agreed to fund the video, we then found out that apparently ABBA have to approve any commercial video of any re-recorded ABBA music. So we had to send the mix to ABBA’s music publishers and wait for their response… and we were told they usually reject around 95% of requests to shoot videos containing ABBA songs! So we were amazed and in awe when the publishers came back and gave their approval for us to go ahead and shoot a video! You could say we have the ultimate seal of approval for our version by ABBA themselves!

The album has nine tracks to represent the nine circles of hell from Dante's The Divine Comedy. The acoustic version of "Bleed Well" references this, featuring a verse that was dropped from the final recording. The verse contained the line, "We'll descend to the ninth and last, where we're judged," referencing the next track, the ninth track "Cyanide Sun". 

 

Not much is known about the song. It is unknown as to when it was written.

 

Bleed Well (Acoustic Version)

This is an acoustic version featuring only a guitar and the faint playing of a piano in the background. The added stanza at the end of the song is about the nine layers of Hell as penned in the section Inferno in the bookDivine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri.

Bleed Well (Digital Versatile Doom)

This live version is taken from one of the two nights at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California. This performance can be found only on Digital Versatile Doom. There is a slight lyric change in the first verse of "bleeding well ... in hell". Ville says, "bleeding well ... in Hell-sinki" referring to their hometown of Helsinki, Finland.
